The Bund Brewery — Restaurant in Shanghai

This is the 1886 tavern now, but they still operate the bund brewery. Great German restaurant with a really cool space inside. The servers were friendly enough, but spoke almost no English. The weisbier and swarzbier were both top notch, but the darker one was the best. The jagersnitzel was delicious, a good portion, and a welcome break from noodles. The flammekeuches were pretty disappointing but they might be a good choice if you have kids. Happy hour went till 7 and was buy one get one free on drafts! This brewery was full of outrageous novelties. The had dry ice coming from the big barrels outside, a Ferrari hanging and spinning from the ceiling, and a BMW Motorcycle riding up the wall. They also had a stage set up for live music. I really liked the hefeweizen that was served in a clod glass. I did not try the food but some of the plates i saw the servers bring to other customers looked delicious. The prices are a little higher than surrounding...

This is now the 1886 restaurant. You can see the huge yellow florescent sign from the Bund. Unfortunately the wait for a table was too long , greater than 30 minutes, so I would book. The inside did look like a brewery, plastic chairs and metal tables and thick plastic hanging from the walls, very noisy. On reflection I am glad I did not stay and wait for the table...
