Antique House Hostel — Hotel in Medellín

We stayed here 2 nights as some friends of ours were staying here. ||It’s centrally located in the lovely Poblado district which is handy for bards and restaurants. It’s up the hill from the metro station which gets a little tiring walking all the way back up each time. ||Dorm beds are fine although you have to make the beds yourself on check in. Dorm room rather smelly as lacked proper ventilation. ||Kitchen is fine - a little under equipped but does the job. Clean fridge is a bonus! ||Upstairs indoor area is nice but ruined by people smoking cigarettes and weed...even though there are no smoking signs and no drug use signs dotted through the building. ||We stayed Friday and Saturday night...the noise from the hostal and the club next door was overwhelming! It's a good hostel, ||Pros:||Great kitchen set up, many hostels don't have this.||Excellent service, Kenya, Katherine and Carlos were all really helpful and spoke pretty advanced English. Also Laedy kept the place really well organized.||This business is lucky to have such good employees. ||Also the downstairs chill spot and the balcony were cool places to hangout.||Really great location near bars, restaurants and an outdoor gym ||Reasonable prices||Cons||The space between beds in the dorm was pretty narrow so if a guest was unpacking or had made a mess, it would get crammed. ||This was only a minor inconvenience. We stayed in Feb 2019 We ordered a room in person and they wrote our order wrong and we ended up on my birthday night with no private room. (Gf and I) We made sure the guy at the front desk before ordering that we can bring 2 guests to visit on my birthday. When they came the manager kicked them out and said we were lying about asking permission from the front desk. Later he came back and told my gf he is sorry after checking out with his workers. To me he did not apolagize or speak until the end of the stay. Showers are cold WiFi is a struggle Alot of locals live in the dorm. If you forget somthing in the common area it’s as good as gone.
