I stayed at the Hotel el Zarzo in Medellin in April. What a beautiful property. The attention to detail in the guest rooms was amazing. They even supplied a USB-C cord & charger for their guests in each room, as well as a Simple Human magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Great hair dryer too! Professional model.
My only criticisms are that the bedroom and bathroom were both so dark that it was uncomfortable. So dark that I couldn't use the hairdryer in the bathroom, so dark that I couldn't even use the Simple Human mirror to put on makeup, so dark that I bumped into the toilet and shower a few times. You need light! One thing is to have "low lighting" for atmosphere, but when it interferes with getting dressed, there's a problem. My only other criticism/suggestion is that each of the rooms needs a full-length mirror. Both of these suggestions are easy "fixes."
I'd like to complement the front desk staff. Everyone was very helpful. Special kudos to Alexander and Nelson. Both gentlemen were extremely helpful and directed us to the greater "off-the-beaten-track" restaurants. Thank you both.
Julian, the bartender in the rooftop bar, was superb. He was a talented mixologist and also very kind.
All in all, we had a fantastic trip and enjoyed the...
Read moreAn absolute treasure in the heart of Medellin. I absolutely love EVERYTHING about this ultra chic new Hotel. The restaurant and bar on the ground floor are among the best in town, or anywhere for that matter. The tuna tartar appetizer and New York strip are definitely must haves. The wine list is killer and the ambience ultra chic yet warm. Head to the roof for a Marrekesh meets Parisian Brasserie viby lounge with stunning views of Medellin from every angle, great libations, delicious tapas and amazing music. SUPER chill, upscale hangout with very attentive (never imposing) service delivered by the excellent team of servers and bartenders. Then settle into your inviting room featuring top of the line linens, Bluetooth speaker, large flat screen TV, state of the art bathrooms featuring European fixtures/ toiletries and a high end mattress for a good night's sleep. You can tell the owners left no detail to chance when planning out this GEM of a hotel. I wouldn't consider my visit a "stay" but rather a delightful "experience". Definitely my new choice of go to hotels in...
Read moreThe hotel is beautiful and architecturally intriguing. From the archways to the concrete ceilings the design teams thought of every last detail to make the hotel, the rooms, and the restaurants a captivating space. That said, the service team is incredibly accommodating and kind. I was able to check-in early and was helped with my luggage. At times I was offered an umbrella due to the weather, and other times a simple conversation when waiting for a car. Anything I needed the staff was happy to provide or help me find.
The hotel is located in El Poblado near Provenza and plenty of other bars and restaurants so there is plenty to do. It is loud outside so you will hear some noise inside the room, but it wasn’t as bad as other hotels and certainty not a factor that impacted my sleep.
Lastly, I celebrated a birthday during my stay and the staff surprised me with a cake and candle - a thoughtful gesture that helped start my day! I’m looking forward to staying here again...
