We are staying here at the moment for 6 nights over Xmas. We are a family of 5 (kids 10, 10 and 11) and we are absolutely delighted that we chose to stay here! ||The little bungalows are very clean, bright and well equipped with small kitchens with fridge/freezer, coffee maker and sink. The bedroom is beautifully decorated and has everything you need - AC (v effective and quiet), fan, safe, nice candle holders and candles, TV, very comfy beds with bedside tables, dressing table with mirror and lots of plug sockets. The bathroom isn’t huge but it’s perfectly nice and the shower is spacious and strong and they provide bath towels as well as towels for the pool. All the bungalows have nice patios at the front with chairs, table, beautiful gardens with a view of the volcano (when it is clear enough!). Since it’s Xmas, the owners decorated the nearest tree with pretty lights we can switch on at night and they also provided sweets on Xmas eve which was lovely! They kindly agreed to have all 5 of us in 1 room and we are perfectly comfortable as we prefer to all fit into 1 room whenever possible. ||The swimming pool is absolutely gorgeous! The photos don’t do it justice. It is large and spotless and the hot tub is brilliant and where our kids played for hours! ||The location of Villa Vilma is perfect. There are loads of cafes and restaurants outside the front gate - as well as a laundry and shops. And it’s only a 5 min drive into la Fortuna. We have eaten breakfast at the soda directly opposite and at Red Frog and both have been excellent (and cheap). We’ve eaten dinner at a number of the restaurants and they are all fab. We’ve also had nice massages at the massage place a couple of doors away. We’ve driven every day to various local activities like white water rafting, zip lining with Sky Adventures (25 mins), sloth tour, Northfields|Coffee/chocolate tour (3 min drive), etc. and there are hot springs nuts minutes away too but we’ve not been.||All in all, this is a really fabulous place to stay as a base in la Fortuna. The owners are lovely and work hard to make this a wonderful place to stay. We didn’t book up activities through them as I had already arranged everything, but they are very helpful and friendly and I know they do make bookings if needed. ||We would definitely come here again and I recommend it...
Read moreAmazing stay! Wish I didn't have to leave to go back home. The property is beautiful. We saw many different animals, including an agouti, an armadillo, hummingbirds, lizard, and others. The flowers are all so pretty. The view of the volcano was outstanding, especially at night or from the jacuzzi. The pool was clean, but I didn't actually use it because I preferred to use the jacuzzi.
The rooms are great! High ceilings, spacious, clean, pretty tile flooring, nice bathroom with consistent hot water. The staff are all very nice and helpful!
The AC is powerful, as is the fan. We cooled off very quickly every time we turned it on.
The entire property is gated which made us feel very very safe! There is also a safe in the room with plenty of space.
The fridge is also very spacious, though sometimes quite loud at night. The sound of cars on the road wasn't an issue at all, despite it being mentioned in other reviews (perhaps because I was staying in one of the farthest rooms). My only suggestion to the owners would be to add microwaves in the rooms.
There are also some very very tasty sodas (local food restaurants) just across the road. I recommend El Turnito, Vagabondo pizza, and the ice cream shop next to Vagabondo.
Definitely consider staying at this beautiful hotel. It will make your trip to La Fortuna/Arenal an...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights with our family of 4. The rooms were on the smaller side but they were clean. The room didn’t have any dresser, but had a small closet area. We had to ask for more towels because they gave us 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel (seemed like a common with all the hotels we went to in CR, not enough bath towels for all of us and either some hand towels or some washcloths). We never used the pool but there were pool towels (which we used for showers too) in our room. We also realized too late in the evening (registration is open until 4pm and we realized at 8:30pm) that our room was missing the hair dryer. I messaged their WhatsApp at 8am and one was brought over right away. The room (triple) had a separate area for a kitchenette with a decent sized fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and some dishes. We enjoyed our mornings outside in the veranda have our breakfast pastries and coffee with a view for Arenal and wildlife. Our animal loving by 8 year old adored the 2 friendly cats we saw on property. My kids also enjoyed the veranda hammock. The hotel is near La Fortuna town and close to the hot springs (we visited Kalambu). We would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, convenient...
