There are no shortage of places to stay in La Fortuna and we could not have been more satisfied with this little hotel. We were staying in the area for two nights and this hotel was perfectly located for us.||The location is excellent. It is located just outside the main area but is still within walking distance to the 'downtown' area if you wanted a 15 minute walk. La Fortuna seems to get a bit busy once the sun goes down, so we were happy to be staying in a place that took us a little bit away from the town. La Fortuna is a tourist town, so expect it to be busy depending on the season you travel there.||The price for a two queen bed room was excellent for the area! We found that the other hotels in a similar price range did not offer queen beds. My husband is quite tall and he cannot sleep comfortable on a double bed. We were very happy when we saw that this place had a decent price and offered queen beds.||We got such an amazing and warm welcome when we arrived by the owner of the hotel (unfortunately, I cannot remember her name but she and her husband run the hotel and live on the property, then her brother and his wife run the little restaurant on the property). I thoroughly appreciated her energy and enthusiasm. Although we had our trip to La Fortuna already planned, there isn't a doubt in my mind that if you came here looking for help on where to go, what was best to do, and how to get there, that she wouldn't help you in any way that you needed. She was by far the most attentive hotel hostess (owner) that I have ever come across. Just as an example, we were traveling with my mom and her husband, and my mom loves her tea and she commented that she wouldn't be able to have tea in a hotel whenever she wanted. So our hostess provided her with a tea kettle, cups, spoons and a thing of sugar for our rooms. Now that is amazing service!||Our rooms were so well kept. In fact, how clean and nice these rooms were would put hotels back in our home country of Canada to shame! We even saw her housekeeping staff out there every morning washing the windows and tidying up the grounds around the hotel.||This place is small and family run. It may not have some of the fancier amenities of other hotels (such as in room service, or key cards into your room, etc) but it has everything you really need and it is clean. Our room had a view of Arenal Volcano, and a balcony with couches to sit on. The room had AC, a mini fridge and a desk. The bathroom was clean and simple.||At night we sat out on our balcony with our tea and chatted and watched the geckos clean up any insects that dared come near the lights.||We had breakfast both days at the restaurant on the grounds. It was a great price and offered a choice of basic breakfasts (such as eggs/sausage/toast, or pancakes and fruit, etc).||The rooms have keys to them and they lock behind you when they shut. We commented a few times among ourselves that if you forgot your key in your room, you'd lock yourself out, and one of us were bound to do that. And of course we did! The staff had a laugh, told us it happens all the time, and were happy to use their master key to let us back in.||We really couldn't love this little hotel more! Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.||Thank you so much to the...
Read moreThere were roaches everywhere! Including on our pillows. You will become a lock picking expert if you stay here! To get into your room you have to turn your key 7 times I the right and eight to the left. Thankfully one of the employees there saw us struggling and helped us open our door. Adding to the bug problem there were also ants that were able to get in through the door that led to someone’s backyard. This is the perfect hotel to stay at because you won’t need to be there for long because there are better places a walking distance away. Many of the rooms could easily be compared to prison cells. They are not easy to get in or out, they are under kept, and they are also very public with windows that show everything while you are showering. Remember that neighbors backyard that our room led to the window shows them everything! They make it very hard to sleep because of their loud music and constant rooster noises. You would love this hotel if you love different animals ranging from bugs to cats crawling on you at night, no privacy, and sleep...
Read moreGreat place with nice accomodations, we stayed at the second main building on the second story, not really loud despite being sorrounded by lots of local neighbors. Stairs to get there should be taken care of cause looked like too old and has rusty metal structures. Breakfast was superb!!! Amount and quality was more than expected. It is served on a small restaurant part of the hotel with a nice atmosphere and great service. They offer lunch and dinner with great prices too. Place is a few kilometers from downtown on the way to the volcano, there's a supermarket just a few hundred meters east. Overall experience was very good and place is totally...
