While traveling in Costa Rica we spent 2 nights in this hotel. We have no complaints about the first room and the first night we spent there. We asked to stay a 2nd night and were told that only 2 rooms (suites ) were left. We agreed to pay the higher price, made the reservations and left for our day trip. We came back to the hotel after a long day with the anticipation of a warm shower and clean bed. That was not to happen. In the shower I was greeted by scalding water with no way to regulate the temperature. We had to give up the idea of showering after being burnt and looked for the second option, the jacuzzi. Climbing the steep stairs of the jacuzzi was not easy and quite dangerous but going to sleep sweaty and dirty was not an option. Task completed, we found out that the water of the jacuzzi did not want to leave the tub and we had to call the hotel office to get assistance. In the other room we occupied, we had similar problems with water taps. It seems to us that the building is in very poor repairs and definitely needs some renovations. In addition, the service is pretty bad. We asked for extra towels and a shower chair in the morning and nothing was delivered until we asked again at night . I guess they knew that it was pointless to deliver it since it was impossible to take a shower. After this ordeal, we asked that the room without the shower will be discounted. The answer was that they have to check with the boss. We did not want to spend our time waiting for them to call and call and call the “authorities “ and we left with the understanding that they will credit our account. We are still waiting. So what do you think? Did we get enough aggravation for $150 for one room and $170 for the other? On another note, while the hotel pool was great, the hotel restaurant was honestly the worst food we have ever eaten anywhere. Everything was very salty, even pasta. The meat was rough and unchewable. The included breastfast was just as bad as dinner. The bread at breakfast and dinner was dry and they toasted it to cover up. The cakes were just as dry and the eggs and beans were not great. The meats were crazy salty. Everything was salty. Perhaps they used it to preserve the meat from last year? Honestly, we got the feeling that they figure tourists have no taste and are easily victimized. Look, it wasn’t a nightmare hotel but for what we got the price should be closer to 35 dollars per night. The one star we gave them is because after all, they did have beds in the rooms. Internet was available only after 2 in the morning on my iPad and until dawn. They do have some story to tell about why we cannot use the iPads . I think it is a long standing problem but why fix it ? People still come to the hotel and there is a sucker born every minute....

The hotel is in a great location and we enjoyed the pool bar and hot tub although one was cold.|Unfortunately one of the two rooms we booked were not ready until 30 minutes after check in so we could not access it. Later on we discovered a large pool of water in our bathroom and called for this to be dealt with. This resulted in various people coming in and out of our room for quite a period of time and it appeared they were unable to fix the leak so looked to put in place a temporary fix. At this point we requested a change in room but were told none were available as the hotel was full - at this point we were very unhappy so the receptionist offered a free dinner in the hotel - we had already spent nearly 100$ at the pool bar and had plans for the evening and all day the next day. We again asked for a replacement room but were offered a smaller room than the upgrade we had paid for which did not have the number of beds we needed. Nothing further was done to deal with the situation and the following day we went on our trip and a more permanent fix was made in our absence.|On check out I asked for the manager but he was unavailable- I asked for a refund of our upgrade charge or our meal at the pool bar but was told that the only compensation they were prepared to give was a meal which we could not use due to not being in the hotel at the time!|Further emails were sent to the manager but he declined to help |Unfortunately this tainted our experience of the hotel which was...

This hotel was the perfect spot for us. It was secluded enough that it felt relaxing and peaceful but close enough to town that you can walk or take a taxi for $5, and there are other restaurants close by too. We especially liked Vegabond Pizza, a 2 minute walk. The entire staff at the hotel, from the front desk to the wait staff and house keeping, were kind and nice and helpful. The front desk staff arranged tours for us, called taxis for us to go into town, made change in both dollars and local currency, and helped us send off laundry. They were always friendly and helpful. The tours they arranged picked us up at the hotel right on time and took great care of us. We took both the coffee and chocolate tour and the hanging bridges tour. We also took the sky tram zip line tour, but that one is easily arranged online and also picked us up at the hotel.

I also enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant. I love a nice breakfast buffet. It was a small selection, but it had all the staples, including fresh fruit. They have an omelet station and serve delicious coffee at the table.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay. The balcony outside the room was nice for sitting and gazing, although we never saw the volcano, it was rained in the whole time, but just another reason to go back! The pool was nice and refreshing and peaceful. Lots of chairs to...

Large, clean, new rooms with 2 queen size beds. Parts seem to be not finished yet (no balcony furniture in some rooms). Some rooms are quiet, some are directly facing the street. Some rooms have a volcano view. Huge hotel, approx 400 guests, who try to get breakfast at once in the ~80 seats bar or try to check in/out at once due it is mostly groups at the 2 persons reception. People at the reception are very friendly and helpful, but hopelessly overloaded. The chef at the eggs and the Service at breakfast do their best, but facilities are not but for this hotel size. 12 beds at the small pool. Towel are out of stock at noon and not refilled. Mostly groups or locals with small kids. Coffee machine in the room does good, but one per day only coffee. Water is drinkable. In the lobby good wifi, doesnot work properly at pool or on sowie rooms. Very touristic. Remote to La Fortuna, but the taxi is only 2000 colonies (3.5 usd). A/C works good, shower has lots of water. Hairdryer. Not wardrobe, one chair you can use instead. TV has no HDMI, if you want to use fire stick or so. No mosquito nets. Try get 7xx block high floor, quiet and good view. You get 2 vouchers for "free welcome cocktail" which are a small plastic cup from a pina colada machine at the pool bar. Better not try it.

This place could easily be 5-stars but they have some issues to resolve. The WiFi does not reach the rooms or pool area, it’s only usable from the lobby and conference center, without WiFi you have to rely on the local 3g cellular network which is basically unusable. The shower pans are very low (only 2 cm) and the drains are slow so the shower pan quickly fill up and overflow onto the bathroom floor. The landscaping is amazing and all the different hot tubs are super fun but most are not warm, only one was pleasantly warm and another was nearly scalding; variety is great but half were just cold. Also, the pool was super cold, it had a fun poolside bar, but no one would use it because the pool was cold so everyone would awkwardly stand by the side of the bar on the pool deck and place orders. The pool towel system is a voucher system where you trade a voucher for a pool towel and then back again when you are done to get your voucher. This system is super cumbersome and clearly designed to reduce usage of pool towels or possibly pool towel theft? Anyway, the system is not well explained and the attendant isn’t always there and they often run out of pool towels. They just need to buy more pool towels and invest in better/larger laundry facilities to handle more load.

Highlight: View from the room was incredible, and the view from the pool was amazing especially at sunset. Location: The location of this hotel was perfect for us, just outside of town so not too busy and pretty central. Right in between the main town and the area around the volcano with all of the activities. We did not eat at the restaurant but the soda next door was amazing for dinner!! Facilities: The grounds were gorgeous and it was really nice to have parking since we had rented a car to get around La Fortuna. The pool was really nice, lots of little areas to hang out in that are off to the side from the main pool if you want something quieter. There is also a mini market in the lobby which was very convenient to pick up snacks/drinks to take with us on activities the next day. Rooms: Rooms were spacious, balcony was amazing and the safe was really nice to have!
