Absolutely disappointed with our New Year’s Eve dinner. Do not go here. Overpriced and terrible service. Worst ending to 2023.
We made a reservation a month prior, thinking it would be busy on NYE as we are a group of 8. When we showed up and gave the name they had no trace of the reservation existing and were not friendly. Their reservation system was 3 sticky notes on the wall. Luckily (or unfortunately) there were a ton of empty tables. They sat us at a 12 person table (made up of smaller tables) so we asked to separate some of the excess tables to just fit 8 and be closer to each other. At first they refused.
When ordering, one of us asked for recommendations. The waiter named the 2 most expensive items on the menu and gave no details. Another asked for their salmon cooked medium. It came out raw. Another ordered a gin and tonic, and got a pulpy fruit juice instead. Additionally, we constantly had to ask for our waters to be filled.
The food took OVER 2 HOURS. And after all the wait they told us we had to pay and leave immediately because they “closed and hour ago”. So they closed before serving our food?
The meal for 8 was almost $600 USD. Which is $500 more than we’ve spent on any other meal. We expressed our disappointment and had to ask if they would at least comp an appetizer or drinks. They were insistent they couldn’t do anything without the manager present. They also told us the 4 other tables that night had similar complaints as if that would help.
We are bilingual (English and Spanish), so there wouldn’t have been any communication problems, and we have had great experiences at other restaurants in La Fortuna and Costa Rica.
I wish I was making this up. If this was the only restaurant open, I would still not...

Waitstaff is nice and welcoming.
For dinner we had trio ceviche which included fish, octopus and shrimp. The fish ceviche was amazing. The other two we could have skipped.
I had fried snapper (signature dish)for my main which came with rice, fries, salad and seafood sauce that had mussels, shrimp and clams. The snapper was delicious, I didn't really enjoy the sauce.
For my wife she had octopus main(signature dish) course with grilled vegetables, potatoes, corn. The octopus was dry. The sides were nice.
For dessert we had baked milk. It was a nice custard like flan. It was a bit grainy but not sure if it should be that way.
Overall the food was decent however the prices were astronomical. We are visiting from a very expensive country and ordering 1 appetizer 2 entrees and 1 dessert. With cocktails and coffee was close to 180 Usd. Food is tasty but I wouldn't return for...
Read moreAwful service, ridiculous wait time for our food to come out, rude staff, and the place was almost completely empty.
We had made a reservation a month ahead of time and when we showed up, our reservation was nowhere to be found as their system for tracking them seemed to be a couple sticky notes on the wall. We then got seated at a table almost twice the size of our party, and when we asked to separate some of the smaller tables making up the table we were at, they said they couldn’t do it, and only did so when we asked again.
The food took over 2 hours to arrive, many of the dishes and drinks came out wrong, and as were finishing up our disappointing and expensive meal, we were asked to pay and leave immediately as they had “closed an hour ago” (we had barely gotten our food 40 minutes prior).
Pick any other place to eat at if you’re coming...
