Hotel Destinos Arenal — Hotel in La Fortuna

I'm giving this place 5 stars because of the hospitality. As a last-minute holiday traveler, I needed help with things like booking an affordable ride to SJO airport, a fridge because I stupidly brought some perishable items, help with reaching customer service internationally to sort out credit card and flight issues, and of course booking tours and recommendations of things to do in the area. Hugo was working the front desk during my stay, and he went out of his way to help (and succeeded) with all of these issues and more. By the end of my 3 night visit there, I felt so comfortable knowing that as a guest of this hotel, I was so supported. That being said, the actual quality of the hotel is definitely on-par with the price -- basic, clean, and has everything you need (AC, good water pressure, clean towels/soap), but can definitely hear your neighbors and the car on the road with thin walls and all rooms are located on the...

Our first impressions were rough. The rooms are super basic and aged. Bed was VERY firm. When considering we had a roof over our heads and a dry bed to sleep in then we can say it met the basic criteria. Not many perks. The further from the offices your room, the poorer the wifi is. The restaurant attached was quite a nice family run place with some good food. Also, bring ear plugs when you sleep. You can hear through the walls and the Tom cats hang out on the roof at night.

I would give this zero stars if I could . Came in the room and the walls had holes and cracks, there was a full grown cockroach on the ground and And a cockroach in the bed . Non of the rooms have the same basic needs (ac , WiFi , etc) if they even have them . The furniture had extra pieces attached to them and none of the rooms were even remotely similar.
