Read morePros:|| Easy to reach from train and bus station. I walked from the train station but there are multiple trams from both to the nearest tram stop (called Frankopanska). A fellow traveller got an Uber and paid about €3.|| The owner and staff were kind, friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome.|| I was in a 5-bed female dorm and it was clean, spacious and had plenty of lockers (key lock so you don’t need a padlock). I had a bottom bunk and having the privacy curtain was excellent.|| Working air-conditioning unit in the room (so necessary for summer in Croatia).|| 2-minute walk to a small supermarket and other shops. 5-minute walk to a larger supermarket and food outlets. Less than a 10-minute walk to the main square and open-air food market.|| Close to the main sights in the Old Town.|| Hostel has a small guest fridge (note - they don't have cooking facilities at this hostel).|| They provide a good, simple breakfast of coffee, juice, cornflakes, milk, toast with egg mayo, and bananas.|| It’s not a party hostel, which I really liked as that’s not the vibe I’m after.|| The bunk I was in had a small reading light (the upper bunks didn’t in the room I was in) and all beds had their own power point for charging electronics.|| Bed was comfortable.|| Rooms have electronic keypads to enter (using either a keycard or pin code).|| The common area has two large couches, a TV and tables you can eat or work at.|| WIFI is excellent. I was able to do a Zoom video call without issue and the connection was fast and consistent even when the hostel was full and everyone was on the internet.|| Rooms are cleaned daily and bedding and towels are provided.|| Note: the hostel doesn't have a washer or drier for guest use (only for staff to do hostel washing) however there’s a laundromat directly downstairs or you can do a sink wash and hang washing in the room. The room I was in had a coat rack and half a dozen coat hangers.|||Cons:|| The water in the shower wasn't always super hot. || Also, not a 'con', just a 'suggestion from a longer (than usual) staying guest'. Having stayed 12 days, I heard the same playlist/songs played in the common area a whole lotta times. I'd love to hear a wider range of music or a bit more rotation through a few more/different playlists. But that's a tiny thing in an otherwise excellent stay. :)|| Not a con, just a note: as with any hostel, pack ear plugs and a sleep mask if you're in a shared room as there will be people arriving and leaving at different times.|||About the reviewer: 46 year old solo female traveller from Australia. This was my first time in a hostel and i was very curious how it will be since i heard a lot of things about hostels. I m not a typical hostel person and i chose this one because it had only 4 beds in a room and female and male separate dorms. Once i checked in loved that it is shoe free space, so you get slippers at the door. And the cleanliness is amazing. More clean than most of the airbnbs i stayed at. Owner is very polite and happy to help with anything. It is located centrally and close to everything, and conected to all parts of the city. Rooms and bunk beds are spacious and very clean. Duvet covers and comfortable matress. I learned that this is really not a typical hostel though exactly for people like me who are not in to partying, but still wanted to experience hostel life of sharing accomm. With strangers or maybe traveling on a budget...
Will def. Come back again with my family because it is excellent...
Read moreI don’t truly believe it fits as a hostel. I understand that this may be a new place yet to be improved, however, there’s no point on blocking the kitchen use for guests, reception works like “whenever I feel like being there” for staff, English communication is very very complicated.
There’s only 2 showers/bathrooms for like 4 bedrooms with at least 4 beds???? How that math works??? Rooms are small and bed on top has no curtains, so be ready to be bothered by sunlight and other peoples light if you sleep on top. It’s also hard to move around if all 4 are there. There are small lockers but I guess you must pay to use it.
The place was clean and they have this rule of no shoes on, however, there’s no hostel vibe and activities (pub crawl, guided tours etc), all maps only in Korean language. Not good for young people or people who wants to meet more people.
No accessible for reduced...
