If you want a place in which you can enjoy some not so expensive, pretentious luxury, then this is it. The staff are commendable, doing an above par job. The setting is comfortable, low-lit, romantic, and inviting. Oddly, I'd go back, but it wouldn't be for the food.
The food is mediocre... at best. Having had cevapi earlier in my trip, i found it better served and delicious at a place called Renik. Charging a fraction of the price for it and far better in line with traditional Croatian Cevapi.
The starter of salmon tartarte was nothing to write home about. I've definitely had better, and at 10 euros, i would've been fine to spend it on a dessert of two after...
I didn't have dessert. Mind you, they did look tasty and seemed reasonably priced.
Overall, i really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, and my lovely waiter, who was able to recommend food and wine that didn't aim to break my bank.
For a solo meal and 2 drinks, it was €35. Not bad, but it's definitely pricier than other local eats.
Definitely won't be the most memorable food of my time here.
My suggestion is to skip it to find somewhere better, unless like me, you decide to wing it as it's close enough to your hotel... my error. Would've prefered to save the cals for something...
Read moreWe had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were not allowed to enter and sit, seemingly because of our appearance. The staff member at the door told us the air conditioning wasn’t working, yet we saw other guests coming and going freely. There was clearly another section with functioning AC. When I politely tried to check inside myself, she suddenly claimed the place was full and that there was no room for our group (4 adults and 3 small children aged 2, 3, and 7). Her manager then joined the conversation and, after speaking in their native language, firmly told us, “There’s no way, we have no space for you.”
This behavior felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. It’s heartbreaking to experience what we can only describe as racial bias, especially in a setting that should be open to all. We had been genuinely excited to dine here, but instead left feeling disappointed .
We sincerely hope the restaurant reflects on this and ensures that all guests—regardless of ethnicity or appearance—are treated with fairness and respect. No one should have to go through...
Read moreI would have happily given more stars but the service was questionable. We arrived (without reservation) in the early afternoon and did not expect to have a table but wanted to try. The barman turned us away saying there were no tables for the next 45 minutes, so we left. As we were leaving, other people who had just finished their meals also exited the restaurant. Groups of two, three… so I was suspicious and decided to see if there were tables I could book online. Lo and behold, I could book a table for two, only 15 minutes from now. We walked in with our reservation and were seated immediately, amongst other empty tables. Not sure what the common practice is here with reservations and walk-ins but I didn’t like this behavior from the barman, it felt dishonest.
Aside from that, we enjoyed the cevapi and side dishes! The amount of grease was just what you need and expect for a dish like this, good bread and homemade ajvar. Our server at the table was nice...
