Chocolat 041 — Restaurant in City of Zagreb

Fantastic Ice Cream! It’s the only one we tasted in Zagreb so I cannot compare, however in my overall list of best ice creams I’ve ever tasted, this is definitely in the top 5. My whole family got the dark chocolate one because we aren’t really into milk chocolate and oh boy, was it delicious!! So rich and decadent, literally like eating 70% bar of chocolate. We also tried the chocolate-cinnamon, to be honest, it tasted exactly as the dark one so I wouldn’t bother 😀 we didn’t mind since the dark was delicious but just in case you’re expecting something that is really cinnamon’y this isn’t it. Price is what you’d expect in Croatia.

The only thing that really made me sad is that it is cash only, as almost all places in Croatia. We didn’t have cash so we had to return later. I understand that there are costs associated with cards but I would happily play extra to be able to pay by card. This is the only reason I’m giving 4/5.

Service was also great, the lady that served us was super polite, she broke my cone as the chocolate ice cream is so stiff, so she gave me a double cone, I didn’t mind at all. Great English and smiling through the whole thing!

I’ll have to mark it as 3 stars-not because if the cakes, cakes were delicious (try the chocolate cake and the raspberry chocolate cake i think, they’re deliciously amazing. But i didn’t like the fact that meal must be paid only with cash and the manager (so does the workers say) decided to write it on a small not noticeable note, when you come to pay they suddenly surprise you with “cash only” at least for us, no one told us at the beginning when we entered. We don’t usually carry cash on us because yes it’s useless and old fashioned, we needed to travel few streets further than the restaurant to look for an ATM at night in cold weather. We could easily leave without paying and i truly wish we did, the workers even told us we can do that. I hope their manager will read my post. I don’t like people who probably evades taxes and i would not go back there because it’s more of a hassle. When i asked the workers- why not hanging the ‘only cash’ note on the wall and bigger sized they answered “we wanted to but the manager wont allow” .for me...

I bought a cone ice-cream and dined-in seated at the counter bar facing the window. After finishing the cone about to wipe my mouth, a waitress suddenly sneak up behind me without saying a word (maybe her English is poor hence she can't communicate). I asked her what she wanted and she just gave me the stare, I was really clueless what she wants at that moment as I have just finished eating my ice cream. Waitress should be more observant and not be rude to customers (she thinks I didn't order anything and just sat there). Please train your waitress better, their job is to wait on customers and not be rude. Really cannot believe how establishment like this still survives in the...
