Arriving in Dubrovnik late one Sunday night to depart by catamaran early on the Tuesday, we were looking for somewhere clean, comfortable and convenient to both the old city and the port and this accommodation was just the job.||||Pros: ||Friendly owner (who spoke some English) who welcomed us with juice and pretzels.||Location 100m down steps takes you to a bus stop for the old town in one direction and the port (if you didn't fancy the walk) and the bus station in the other direction.||Just down a few steps from the accommodation was a supermarket called 'Tommy's' which was very useful-it was reasonably priced (much more so than the islands we later went to) Hint- bring your own shopping bag/plastic bag/rucksack and get there early for the bakery in store. They open at 7.||||Facilities- ok, it was a room, but outside the room was a fridge which seemed to be available just for our room. The wifi was quick and reliable and the en-suite shower room was new and well fitted. Bed was comfy and should you need wardrobe space, there was plenty. A shared terrace, with tables and chairs was also available.||||Cons:||There were several steps to climb from street level to reach the accommodation which was up a narrow lane, which is fine if you pack little and are reasonably fit. A torch might be useful too as the lane...
Read moreMy friend and I were leaving from Gruz harbor for a bike and boat trip. We flew into Dubrovnik and needed accommodations for just the night before we were to depart but didn't want to stay in an expensive hotel. I found this guesthouse on OrangeSmile.com. We wanted to be able to walk to the harbor and this was just a few blocks away. We arrived around 9 PM and were greeted with a lovely glass of homemade spirits and orange rind candy. Our room was absolutely immaculate, there was lots of hot water, wi-fi and the beds were very comfortable. We weren't able to board our boat until 1 PM and our hostess was very gracious in allowing us to eat our sandwiches on her lovely patio even though we had checked out. She also allowed us to stow our luggage until we were ready to leave. This guest house is clean, comfortable and delightful. I was skeptical as it was behind a grocery store and up a number of stairs but it is a wee oasis with a lovely, well-tended garden. We had breakfast there for 6 Euros - you can't do...
Read moreAs other reviews indicate, the location is close by the passenger ferry terminal (Gruz). With proper directions it's just a 10 minute walk to the property. A map will be handy as you risk walking past the laneway that leads to the property. ||||The accommodation was very clean with a good sized double room and a quite new en-suite bathroom. A fridge was available in the hallway to store drinks etc. ||||Wifi worked well. While there was a tv in the room there seemed to be very few channels.||||The hostess provided juice and a homemade pastry on arrival which was a nice touch.||||The old town can be accessed by bus (5 mins journey) from just outside the nearby Tommy supermarket. Tip: Take the shortcut metal staircase just after you leave the property which takes you into the Tommy carpark (parking lot).||||The old town is also walkable in about 20 mins, but that could be a tough journey in the middle of a sunny...
