*We didn't like:
We didn't like the breakfast. The staff during the breakfast just spoke Czech, no English at all, so it was very hard to communicate with them. Furthermore, they were inattentive at times, as sometimes they forgot to top up the coffee machines or to top up the croissants.
Also, the quality of the breakfast itself was questionable. Two days, they served juice of spoiled watermelon, which is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, they didn't have cookies nor olive oil and during 2 consecutive days they ran out of german cheese, which was disappointing. Also, the quality of all the breakfast bread was notably poor, as it was too soft and not crunchy at all. You would find much better bread in any supermarket really. The quality of the croissants was not up to the standard either, the croissants were neither crispy and golden, but they were soft and heavy instead. They just had one type of jam & butter.
For breakfast, they didn't have any traditional czech breakfast cakes, such as Medovnik, Babovka or Bublanina. You go to a different country on expensive holidays to try new things and you can't. We found this extremely discouraging.
It's not that difficult to provide your customers with comfy chairs, traditional czech food, proper bread & croissants, proper watermelon juice, English speaking breakfast staff, cookies and oil. Specifically in a 4-star hotel of this caliber.
All in all we were let down by the breakfast.
*We did like:
The body lotion provided by the hotel was excellent, one of the best we have tried. We wish we could have some more. -The reception staff spoke a wide range of languages, so that was very good and handy. The location of the hotel just can't get any better. Best location in Prague. Very good check in and check out. They also took care of our luggage one we checked out. -We had an issue with our room and the staff did a brilliant work at solving the issue. The size of the rooms. The curvy flat TVs...
Read moreIn short - as long as you stay in a room not facing the tram (i.e., facing the park/train station), it would be a well worth stay. Otherwise, stay elswhere....
We stayed 2 nights, but not consecutive. The first one, was in a regular room on the 1st floor, and the experience was bad - the room faced the tram, and every few minutes there was noise and vibrations, till late after midnight, and very early in the morning. I couldn't sleep more than couple of hours. Night receptionist which gave us quite a cold welcome, should have mentioned that upon check-in. Actually, the hotel should mention that on its website or info on other platforms.
The next morning we complained about that, but the girl at reception was pretty careless. So we told her we will look for another hotel elsewhere, and she didn't even think to mention they have alternative rooms that are quiet...
When we were back at Prague at the end of our trip, we stayed there an additional night, after corresponding beforehand over email with reception, making sure they have quiet rooms (this time they were nice and efficient, and gave the alternative of an upgraded quite room, and gave us a direct good price for it).
We considered the hotel despite the first bad experience because we needed parking, and for its cost, you get free parking (a rare thing in central Prague), great breakfast (untill 11, also rare), a very nice renovated room (although strangely, and unlike the first night, there were no English speaking channels on TV), checkout at 12 (and they were even generous to allow it later), Nespresso machine and a free minibar!
Location is very comfortable near the international train station and rental car agencies, and a 10min walking distance from the main square or from...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews but have used them a lot on my trip to Prague so it’s only fair to share my thoughts that are entirely positive for this hotel. 987 is in a great location, close to the city landmarks but quiet in the local area. It is a few minutes walk to the main train station, AirPort Express bus and tram stops that can take you just about anywhere in the city. The welcome at the hotel from Diana was lovely and warm.
We were issued with a double room, but as I was travelling with my teenage daughter we asked for a twin room which the was not yet ready, but we we could check in early and use the double room until it was, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel itself is great, quirky and stylish decor, very clean, modern, large rooms with good air conditioning. Breakfast is good with plenty of choice.
You occasionally feel a slight rumble from the trams but having being in rooms on both sides of the hotel it is definitely not noisy.
The staff mostly appear to be quite young and always polite and helpful. I have just been able to book a late checkout tomorrow for a very reasonable cost that should mean that our stay in Prague, and at 987, will be a great experience until we leave. No question that we will stay here again when we...
