This was, without a doubt, the worst hostel experience l've ever had. Do NOT be fooled by the good reviews. Having worked as a volunteer in a hostel for a year, I know how these high ratings happen-guests leave good reviews because they want to support the amazing volunteers, not because the hostel itself is actually good. The reality? This place is a disaster. The smell is unbearable due to a complete lack of fresh air. They don't open the windows, and the heating is at full blast, creating an unhealthy, stale atmosphere that made it impossible for me to stay. I had to check out after just one night because I physically couldn't handle it. Yes, reception was kind enough to offer me another room, but I preferred to lose my money rather than spend another night there. I know that this is also bad luck because the problem of my room was the tree guys I had to share the room with, but still the room was old, bed terrible and the bedsheets were smelling. The layout is also terrible. The hostel is split into two separate apartments-one for the reception and kitchen, and another for the rooms. If you want a cup of tea in the middle of the night, you have to leave your apartment, go down freezing cold shared stairs, and walk through a building that isn't even part of the hostel. Not exactly cozy or convenient.
On top of that, the furniture is ancient, the mixed-gender bathrooms and showers are extremely outdated, and the overall hygiene of the place is concerning. The ONLY good things about this hostel are the volunteers, the activities, and the location. But as a place to stay? Absolutely not. l've spent a year living in hostel dorms, so I know what I'm talking about, and this was by far the worst l've ever seen. I strongly do not...

It is very central. Super easy to get around.
The staff is incredibly friendly! Really helpful, the only place we got a personal tour around. They accept volunteers in exchange for free accommodations as well.
Tons of activities; they host an afternoon and nighttime activity every single day. Maybe paddle-boating in the afternoon and always a bar crawl at night. You pay a small fee, like 300 - 600 CZK for each activity, mostly to cover booze. It's a very social hostel and if you're there to party and get to know people and you're not bothered by a bit of grunge, it's fantastic.
The beds are clean and comfortable! That was a relief.
Cons:
The bathrooms and showers reeked. Mildew everywhere. I held my breath during showers.
The rooms are cramped and old. The bunks aren't secured to the wall so if anyone gets in and out, or even turns over in their sleep, you'll be rocked awake.
Though the reception/party area is on a different floor from the rooms, the region is still a party area. As in, every night, loud party noises until 4 am. I was unable to sleep more than 2 hours at a time.
I'm pretty sure the 40ish-year-old man in the adjacent bunk from me actually lived...
Read moreI’ve stayed in quite a few hostels during my travels, but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest! From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming, warm, and social in the most natural way possible. As a young girl travelling solo, finding a place that feels both safe and social is so important—and this hostel gave me all that and more. Every night, they serve a delicious group dinner that brings everyone together, followed by drinking games and social activities that honestly made the place feel like one big family. It was nothing like the disconnected or cliquey vibe I’ve experienced in other hostels. What really made my stay unforgettable was the amazing staff. They were so kind and genuinely cared about every single guest. Whether you wanted to join the fun or just sit down and have a chat, they made it so easy to feel at home. Big shoutout to Justine, Matilda (Tilly), Tara and Sonia—you’re the best! The facilities were clean and comfy, and the location was unbeatable—super central and close to everything. If you’re a solo traveler looking to be social, safe, and have a genuinely great time—this hostel is a must. I will definitely...
