To be honest, I don't know what to think. Ebi (shrimp) tempura was absolutely amazing. Then I tried Tokyo ramen and... well, I never had real Japanese ramen in my life, but if THIS is ramen, then I hate ramen in general, and that's just disappointing on it's own because I really wanted to love it! So, I kinda want to think of this as not proper ramen and I'm so sorry if that's unfair, but it was soo salty and I never had this feeling eating broth, but it felf like it was burned? Or something like that as I can't find myself proper words for it in any language. I've ate it all, because I felt bad as I can't tell if problem was in ramen or me, and that's why I've decided to give this place 3* and not lower. My only experience with ramen besides Takumi... And I know it sounds bad... Was my own "ramen", made by me, BUT using proper ingredients and following every step in YT videos made by true Japanese chefs. I'm no amateur in a kitchen (for example, my vietnamese friend told me that my Pho Bo is as good as from professional vietnamese chef) but again... Do my "ramen" taste like proper japanese ramen? I don't know. Do this Ramen I had today taste like proper japanese ramen? Again, I don't know. Therefore go to Takumi and try it on your own because I can't really tell you not to. One more thing, after short period of time, I had to rush to toilet and I usually don't have problems like this. That's also why I was thinking about giving 2*. I hate making negative...
Read moreWe ordered two vege ramen. The staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was welcoming and warm.
I had visited Takumi for the first time early this year and the ramen I had didn’t really satisfy me but this time it was very delicious, full of taste and rich in flavour.
Today, my order was a special and personalised one, I wanted Oro-chon ramen but vegetarian so without meat and with vege broth. I’m very happy that it was possible! Both of the ramen we had today were very very good, I recommend them! The second one was vege miso ramen with vegetable tempura.
We waited for more than 20 minutes to pay and to get our soya beans to go, but we didn’t really mind. It was also crowded (dinner time) so it was understandable, it could probably take more time and I’m sure they did their best. As a apology they added one more sticker to our ~customer card.
Just to add an extra point to this visit - I’ve visited ramen restaurant of this franchise in Amsterdam as well and the one in Prague is much more welcoming, cozy and with more authentic atmosphere, definitely better ramen and kind staff. That also makes me very happy. :)
Btw if you want to get more vege ramen in Prague I very much...
Read moreThe place has a nice atmosphere that reminds of Japan. The service was a mix of courteous and curt.
Unfortunately the food felt very lackluster. We tasted two different Ramens (Tokyo traditional, and Takumi Special). Both arrived with cold overcooked pieces of chashu, and cold eggs with almost entirely cooked yolks. Both Ramens arrived with the same noodles, which were ok, but lacked the typical chewiness, and in a blind test, we'd guess these were from a noodle packet.
The Takumi special Ramen had very bland broth, with a lot of sprouts and a lot of tough fried pieces of meat (I think pork). It was really underwhelming and lacked depth of flavor. It was, however, packed with meat and sprouts.
The Tokyo traditional Ramen had better flavor (with surprising anise-like undertone) but none of the deep richness we're familiar with from traditional pork Ramens in Tokyo, and was missing the narutomaki, and nori.
All in all, this was underwhelming, compared to the expectations we had for a place with such a high rating on Google, and the relatively steep...
