Booked a meeting package here. The hotel manager, Marketa, and the hotel staff members were great! We had the best time there and they were very great host to us indeed. We stayed there for over a week.
Pros: Prompt replies and support from hotel team.. Marketa gave us a brief tour in the hotel and shared about its history and this antique glass elevator I was so intrigued by (built in 1901). This really adds to the flair of the hotel. I do recommend asking the hotel staff for a quick tour it would make your stay so much more meaningful Extremely good location right in the heart of the old town. You can be walking to attractions and restaurants in no time New and old wings. I stayed at the old wing which I really enjoyed. I always took the stairs up to level 6 (highest) to get my steps in. The room I was in faces the shorter buildings opposite and sometimes in the afternoon to evening I would hear beautiful classic and modern music playing on the piano and on the saxophone. Meeting room we booked was Belsky it is cosy with nice daylight streaming in but there is blinds to block out the sunlight if needed
Cons: There are peacocks squawking throughout the day. They are owned by the hotel beside them. The squawking was periodic but it can get a bit annoying Standard rooms are small. Their double bed is actually two single bedders put together. I ended up sleeping on only one side to avoid the awkward dent in the middle. The pillows seem half sized and the comforter was also split into two Hotel Breakfast was 90% the same daily Laundry may not necessarily be sent to your room. I did it twice and first time I had to pick it up but the staff offered to take it up for me which I appreciate. The second time they sent it to my room. Also the hotel room cleaning staff did not replace the laundry order sheet with a new one with the new laundry bag The service staff and chef would keep pressing us to go for our lunch on time. Our meetings overrun but it was disruptive to have them keep chasing us..I think it is because they wanted to close the kitchen or it has to do with staffing hours.
Overall this was a great stay, everyone was pleased, the pros outweigh the cons easily and I would recommend...
Read moreFirst morning the room service attempted to enter our room 3 times at 8, 9 and 10am. Obviously Prague is known for its nightlife and being woken up continuously was not welcome. We informed 2 different staff members about it, who did not seem to care. After putting the "do not disturb" on the door yet still it happened again the next morning; knock, hear the reply, enter anyway. Also a double room with two single beds made up is not ideal for a couple on their anniversary trip. All that would have been annoying but the real 0 star rating (if it could go that low) came from the hotel airport transfer. We asked the hotel to arrange our airport taxi and when a taxi did arrive, the doorman ran to stop us getting in. He bundled us in the next car which came a little bit after and it was only after we set off that we realised that there were no markings on this car and no taxi certification or ID like all the other cabs in the city. The driver himself started off friendly but quickly got into quite an agressive political discussion. Telling us that foreigners weren't welcome in his country and that we couldn't understand anything as we were "too young". He became genuinely threatening when his aggressive driving caused him to slam on the breaks numerous times whilst weaving in and out of traffic. Both of us felt unsafe with this driver. When it came to the end of the journey, he explained that this was a hotel taxi and that we should tip him for his service. I said no but he took all of the change for himself (about 250 czk or 8 GBP). I told him again that we would not be tipping and he reluctantly told us that we were "sad" and gave it back. The fact that the hotel offers this (more expensive) airport transfer with an agressive and dangerous driver is not acceptable. It left a sour taste in the mouth from a trip to a...
Read moreThe staff tried to be overly nice and warm, although, their actions do not see it:
By our mistake, we reserved by accident our stay for an extra day (leaving on Aug 06, but reserved check out for Aug 08) which we realized only after doing the check-in in the hotel. The staff said they would not refund us and that no other hotel would do so for a mistake like that (not true), and we either stay until the date we reserved or lose the 100 Euros. But, they didn't even try to make us happy with ur own mistake, as an example, to give us a free glass of wine (cost at most 1 Euro, still losing 99 Euros). Anything as a return to be a bit happier that the staff and/or hotel at least care about our loss here. They have a bar, massage room, and more. But no return, just said this is our mistake (which we fully understand, our fault.) and they cannot do anything. Disappointing.
Staff never call back, we had issues with our safe on the first day, staff said they'll contact us tomorrow morning, but never reach back. So we left without a Safe for our whole stay.
We wanted to pay for our stay with dollars, although, we had 20 bills, and had to pay 500 dollars. The staff said he doesn't want to accept 20 bills, and we prefer 100 bills, which we didn't have. We were missing 10 dollars total, so I could go to the ATM and withdraw, but the staff member said, "please pay with a card, it is easier" Is - Easier for WHO? For you? Did we want to pay with CASH, why put STRESS on us to pay with CARD? Just because it is easier for HIM? This moment ruined our stay, more than the mistake we had with the check-in!
