I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel, which I picked as part of my Christmas experience in Prague. The hotel is recently renovated, its building is beautiful from the outside, and everything is nicely designed inside. The hotel lobby is small but pretty; it was cutely decorated for Christmas, though I believe they could have added more decorations. The biggest issue of my stay was the check-in process, which was long and complicated. I booked a Deluxe Room with a View, and because the hotel was full right before Christmas, there were not many rooms of this type available on the day of my check-in. My two major requests prior to check-in were a high floor and a bigger room size for my week-long stay. Initially, the front desk lady was confused and could not find a room for me. Finally, she found one on the top floor, but it had a leaking roof with water on the bed and floor. I informed her immediately, and she was even more confused about what to do next. She had to call her manager, who took about 10 minutes to arrive. He also seemed confused and suggested a room on the first floor, which I refused due to privacy and noise concerns. After extra time, he finally gave me a room on the third floor, which I accepted. My room (A305) was beautifully decorated and pretty big. It was a corner room, so I had two windows with two different city views, which was awesome. The room was soundproof; I did not hear any noise from the streets or the hotel’s hallway. The room had all the necessary amenities in great condition. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but magnificently decorated with a mix of white-brownish marble stone and gold bathroom equipment. Having a deep and long bathtub was a plus. I liked the bathroom amenities; they were of very good quality. Wi-Fi was fast during my entire stay. The hotel’s location is tricky. On one hand, it can be called “central” because it is right across the bridge from New Town Prague, which can be considered the center of Prague. On the other hand, it is kind of far from Old Town Prague, with a walk of about 20 minutes, which was okay for me, but some people (including my partner) might find this walk long and might need to use public transport or a taxi. However, I personally liked the hotel’s location a lot because it was in a very peaceful and quiet corner of Prague, right on the riverwalk. By the way, there is a big shopping mall close to the hotel and a bunch of restaurants and cafes around. I paid $140 per night for my stay, and I find this deal very reasonable for the high quality of the hotel, especially during Christmas week when hotel prices are very high all over Europe. I absolutely recommend this hotel for a stay in Prague, especially if you need to stay close to New Town. If I come back to Prague in the future, I will consider staying at this...
Read moreI would never ever return to this hotel, with its rude, unhelpful reception staff, and complete misrepresentation on the website. I arrived ahead of check-in time and was prepared to leave my luggage and return later to be shown to my room. But the reception desk went ahead with check and I was told my room would be ready in 1/2 - 3/4 hour and directed to the bar, I assumed for a complimentary drink. But no, I ordered and payment was immediately required. After about 1 1/2 hours I returned to the Reception Desk, and after fiddling with his his phone, and leaving me standing by the desk, I was informed that the room would be ready in 10/15 minutes. I asked if I could leave my luggage and come back later. The Receptionist ignored this suggestion and the 10/15 minute time frame was repeated. 30 minutes later he informed me that my room was ready and given the key. No direction to the lift or offer of help with my luggage. I sorted it out for myself. My first call once in the room was to the loo, with glass doors, and while in there the housekeeping staff entered the room, no knock, to check the mini-bar. Very embarrassing. Having overcome this I looked around the room. The bed was very comfortable and the room was of an acceptable size, but considerably smaller than shown in the website photos. Turning the shower on was interesting, I needed an arm considerably longer than the normal length. The only mirror that could be used was in the bathroom, those elsewhere were antique style that needed re-mirroring. The complimentary teas were not replenished, not were the tissues, I had to go hunting for these - and my small pot of foundation disappeared. Breakfast was reasonable, but a small, crowded room, in the basement was a bit grim. I was expecting a high quality hotel, overlooking the river, which was important to me especially since I was travelling alone. Outside were traffic lights and a fairly main road, and then the river. I could see a square of river from my bedroom window but otherwise saw no river from the hotel. The final unacceptable situation was on checking out. I asked to leave my luggage, which was reluctantly agreed to. I was expecting it to be in a secure room, but when I returned, I found my case with others in Reception. I collected my case without question from the staff, I could have been anyone just helping myself to a case. I was horrified. I hope to return to the beautiful city of Prague, but it will definitely not be to the Mamaison...
Read moreWent end of March into early April and it was a lovely solo trip.|The hotel was basic but clean. Drainage a bit slow in the sink and bath but nothing that caused an issue. Staff were very accommodating and friendly, spoke perfect English. They have an Airport Shuttle too which is very convenient for solo travelers.|Coffee machine was very welcome, not something that is available in all hotels, for example in Spain! Mini bar was useful to store tapas and snacks.|The hotel is walking distance from the Charles Bridge about 10-15 mins depending on whether you stroll or walk, browse or not!|I even found an express Tesco to my surprise not far away in another direction! The wine was great!|Unfortunately they don't have a restaurant on site and the "bar" is served from the Reception area with seating across the way from the reception Reception. (Not very private).|I'm not sure about getting breakfast outside of the hotel - something I would consider next time I go to Prague again as the breakfast in the hotel wasn't amazing but it filled a gap. Coffee was good!|By the way, don't expect a double bed - they are twin beds pushed together with a double sheet - meaning a "gap" forms and you get single duvets.....|Balcony views were amazing! It was a special trip for me and I had requested riverside view and was very happy with that. See photos.|Tips: |1. Places to visit: Gallery of Steel Figures.|2. Astronomical Clock must be seen.|3. Prague Castle a must.|4. Do a river cruise! It's amazing |5. The Train Station is structurally beautiful and worth having a look. (The older station not the modern one).|6. There is a Shopping centre with a lot of floors somewhere in the city - I came across it while rambling, couldn't tell you where it is but it's there and has Lush, Bath & Body Works etc! Proof is in the pictures;-)|7. Wear flat shoes for walking as many streets and pavements are uneven and cobbled. My back was in trouble|8. Watch out for rip off tourist prices in some cafe/restaurants. Some charge crazy money like €4 for a soft drink eg Coca Cola small bottle and €26 for a club sandwich?! I walked out and went elsewhere! Ended up at Sladká Cesta - Caffé & Bistro which was lovely and normally priced for a city center eatery!...
