This hotel is brand new (still having a soft opening) and it is honestly amazing I could not rate it more highly.
For the price and location, this is a great hotel. Its very safe, in a quiet place away from the chaos of the city and the Giza Necropolis is really close by.
All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, especially the reception staff. We'd had a pretty bad trip over and experience in Cairo, and the people at reception were so kind it really made the trip for us. They can help you book tours, drivers and train tickets super easy so that's helpful.
The rooms are small, but very clean. All the amenities work, along with a mini fridge and TV with Netflix and YouTube. Oh and the wifi was amazing, better than the wifi we usually get at home haha. The beds are really comfy and the bathrooms are nice. Our room didn't have a proper window, but that's okay it made the room nice and dark. There was some slight construction noise during the day, but that's because the hotel isn't fully open yet, and the noise stopped around 7pm. Excuse the photos, I took them as we were leaving, but know that the cleaning ladies do a really good job setting up the rooms.
There's no room service or in-house kitchen at the moment, but you can have a free breakfast in the morning on the roof of the adjoining hotel. It was a standard hotel breakfast (omelette, falafel, bread, yoghurt etc) but the view of the pyramids was amazing! At night when we were really tired we were able to order some fast food with the woman at reception (Alaa, you were the kindest person to us, thank you so much).
Overall, I'd highly recommend Jasmine to anyone staying in Cairo who mainly wants to see the ancient sites, but doesn't/can't stay somewhere expensive like the other hotels around. This is a really nice and friendly...
Read moreThis hotel looked really nice, although there was construction work going on at the time of our visit. You would often hear brief sawing/drilling noises at 10 or 11 p.m., which wasn't great. Our first disappointment was the fact that the pool wasn't one you could actually swim in: it was merely a viewing pool. On Expedia's website, it had clearly stated that there was a swimming pool, which was one of the main reasons for booking it.
The housekeeping wasn't great: the bedsheets weren't changed for the duration of our 7-day stay. Towels were changed every day, though. However, we were once supplied with ragged, frayed towels that had holes in them!
We weren't given a room with a pool side view, even though that was what we'd booked and paid for. Unfortunately I didn't realise this until the last day of our stay, but surely the hotel would have this information in our booking and give us the right room?
The staff were friendly enough, but I was not happy with the exorbitant price of the trips they had available (all in US dollars). If we had booked them all, it would have cost more than actual holiday! We did eventually book a Nile cruise through the hotel, but it didn't go particularly well. We were kept waiting outside the boat for almost half an hour. By the time we were finally allowed on, the buffet service had almost ended, so we weren't able to have as much food as we wanted. The cruise itself was short and underwhelming, but the onboard entertainment...
Read moreThey must improve their tour agency. Even with prices above available in websites such as Get your Guide, we faced many problems such as: Hire tours in Portuguese and receive one that spoke Spanish (changed in second day after complaint). Last day the hotel offered us a day to relax in a resort in Ain Sokhna (Red Sea beach closest to Cairo) for 260USD 2 persons. Besides the fact that in November this is a ghost town, they drove us to 2 hotels that were closed and then to a last one that was in renovation, work on going, dirty, and construction noise, in summary no conditions to receive guests. After a few minutes we decide to go back to Cairo, as it was impossible to relax and enjoy. After some discussions the hotel returned 150USD saying that they had spent more then that with travel agency. Our balance was a vacation day and 110USD lost. Car to travel to Alexandria didn’t have seat belts in back seats. Although we had 4 days in Cairo the Grand Museum wasn’t recommended. Luckily we had some spare time in our 2nd day and we could fit it into schedule.
The hotel is all right. Wi-Fi is a little unstable but bathroom is good and breakfast with some variety. Location to reach main Pyramides and Grand Museum is good, but really bad to have a walk visiting shops and have...
