el Tarboush — Restaurant in Luxor City

DON'T GO THERE.

The food is really bad considering this is supposed to be "Lebanese restaurant" in a "5 stars" hotel.

The truth about this place is this one : a REGULAR BAD EGYPTIAN RESTAURANT.

1-The bread is cheap egyptian bread (named in Egypt "baladí bread") : NOT AT ALL LEBANESE BREAD. I said it to the waiter, and he answered there isn't any other bread. BUT, randomly, when the Chich Taouk chicken came, this was with some lebanese bread (very industrial, not tasty, not crispy, not coming at all from the oven...but at least lebanese bread. One question : why not giving it when we asked then ?

2-We ordered hommus with Meat. Hommus is correct, but the meat is FAT and NOT GOOD AT ALL. As you can see on the picture, we didn't eat it at all. This is the meat they use in any street food (shawarna sandwich) named in Egypt "baladí" meat, which is scandalous considering the place and the price. I said it also.

3-We ordered labne. Salty, not a good taste. Strange green spicy inside. For me, this is not labne.

4-We ordered sausage makanek with pomegranate. The makanek sausage was fat and not tasty (like the beef meat) but the most incredible thing is this was served WITHOUT pomegranate. Really a shame considering that before ordering, I explicitely asked, and in arabik language to make sure it's clear, if it includes pomegrenate, and they said "yes" ! I said that to the waiter, and he answered "there is no pomegrenate, but only a sauce with pomegrenate flavour".

5-We ordered vine leaves. These are EGYPTIAN VINE LEAVES, NOT AT ALL the LEBANESE way to prepare it (this should be soft, with any spicy inside, and prepared with vine leaves).

6-We ordered chicken Chick Taouk. This was correct. Galic sauce had a normal taste.

7-I said to the manager all that and I explained that for me, the Chef CAN NOT BE LEBANESE. He answered that the chef was lebanese then I decided to talk to the chef BUT RANDOMLY he was "NOT here, he traveled to Lebanon for holidays" !

8-I said we could just leave all the "lebanese" food and consum other food for the same value in an other restaurant of the hotel. The manager said it's not posible "because this is NOT THE SAME OWNER".

To be fair, I must mention they reduced the bill of 25%, but not good at all considering the situation. we just ate hommus (not the beef), Baba ghanouch without bread, chicken and 3 vine leaves.

9-After that, the "Director of food and beverage" came to talk. He said he can "offer 25% for other restaurant of the hotel because he specified, CONTRARY TO THE LIE OF THE MANAGER, that the HOTEL AND ALL RESTAURANT ARE OWNED BY JUST 1 OWNER !

WE OBVIOUSLY REFUSED. WE HAVE ALREADY PAID 1500 EGP FOR FAKE AND BAD "LEBANESE FOOD". HOW COME THAT WE WILL GIVE MORE MONEY TO THE SAME OWNER ?

10-I am sure they argue we are in Egypt, and not in Lebanon, but it's not a good idea because I know excellent lebanese...

We had an amazing experience at the El Tarboush restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was delightful, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that made the dining experience truly enjoyable. I would like to extend a special thank you to Yahya the chief which went out of his way to great us and prepared special meals for us. Best Lebanese cuisine. Thank you for your exceptional hospitality. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly enhanced our visit. I can't wait to return for another delightful meal! The overall taste of the food was disappointing, unappetizing, and far below the standards of a proper Lebanese restaurant. For appetizers we ordered the Vine Leaves , Kebbeh, and Fattoush. And for main the Mixed grill and Chicken Fetteh. The vine leaves were torn, the mixed grill was served cold and reheated after we complained, and the beef was overcooked and burnt.The chicken in the Fetteh tasted stale. Overall, the prices were too high for the small portions served, and the low quality of food.
