Worth the value.
Pros - Access of building and unit - after reading various reviews, we expected accessing into the building and unit would have been difficult. On a positive note, the instructions was very detailed. We were assigned to building A, the elevator worked. We were assigned to the 3rd floor in room 30x, a 2 bedroom unit
Apartment unit - it had everything we needed. Cooking utensils, dish soap and sponge, tea towel etc. It's a small space, but filled with basic needs for a family. We appreciate the efforts WS used to decorate the unit making it comfortable for visitors. As we were prepared from all the comments listed, we did bring our own towels and disinfecting items in the event the unit needed some cleaning. I'm so glad we did.
Location - I can't say it's incredibly close to Lafayette or the metro station but this location is sandwiched between Chausse d'Antin La Fayette and Le Peletier station. We appreciated this location as it felt safe at night and various eatery options.
Conclusion - you definitely get what you pay for. The price you're paying is for the location and basic night's rest. If Paris is the only city you'll be visiting, I highly recommend bringing your own towels, and some basic cleaning supplies to ensure your stay is comfortable. Our review is based on a neutral and understanding the nature of what property we've chosen to stay. We would say it's between 5-6/10 because of all the pros and cons mentioned in our review. For future individuals looking for a stay here, keep in mind, you truly get what you pay for. There's another hotel on the other side of the building going for 2.5x the price per night. There's also various brand named chains on Bd Haussamann/BD Montmartre, have a look at the comparables and you'll appreciate WS's price listing for what they're offering.
Cons - Bathroom - very small. Our first night, we noticed the shower faucet leaking. We couldn't hang the shower faucet as when attempted, the water sprayed out into the bathroom itself. It was so wet, we had to use half of the provided towels to wipe down the bathroom. We notified the WS team through WhatsApp about towel and showerhead replacement. Their response was prompt. They sent a technician (when we weren't in our room) to replace the shower head the very next day, but they did not provide towels. We saw a cleaning staff the next morning and asked for towels, but those provided all had stains. One towel had faded black stains, the other had faded RED stains. Thanks to other reviews, our own towels came to the rescue!
Cleanliness - we turned on the fan within the rooms, accidently reversed the spinning of the fan and a ton of dust came down. When I accidently dropped my bag I wanted to check if anything dropped underneath, while nothing did, I witnessed a sheet of dust (at least 1cm thick) underneath. While everything at eye level seemed clean, there's definitely some cutting corners from the cleaning staff.
Noise - our unit was facing an inner courtyard, so there weren't any street noise. However, if you're a light sleeper, you'll be able to hear all the doors opening and closing, and sound of the noise in other rooms.
Hallway lighting - as we were aware from other reviewers, we were aware the hallway would be dark. It is sensored lighting. The sensor near our unit was broken, so we had to wave elsewhere for the hallway lights to turn on. If you're travelling with children, I recommend bringing a small flashlight or turn on your mobile phone light before entry so they...
Read moreA group of 8 of us stayed in these apartments while in Paris!! IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! Customer service was absolutely horrible!!! We stayed 2 nights the first week of July. It was the hottest 2 days in Paris- 101 both days!!! 1st issue- NO ELEVATORS!! We had to walk up 4 flights of stairs with luggage!!! 2nd issue- NO AIR!!! The "big" (about the size of a US master bedroom) apartment my family of 3 stayed in could have been nice, but it wasn't!! They have enclosed ceiling fans in the two areas with beds. Apparently, this used to be a one bedroom apartment because there was a twin bed in a room that could only fit that with a small closet. This room had a door on it and curtains on the window that separated the main bedroom from the small bedroom. The area my husband and I slept in used to be the living room. It did not have a door on it, and again, my 12yr old had control of us having privacy because the curtains were on her side!!! The TV had 5 channels and the only language was French. The person that put up the ceiling fans connected them to the lights in the apartment, which meant if we turned off the lights we would turn off our only source of air- the fan!!! We were able to turn the lights off on the fan, but not in the kitchen or small sitting area!! We were forced to sleep with the lights on for the time we were there. I called and spoke with 3 different people to no avail. The 3rd person must of got tired of me because he hung up on me and made no attempt to contact me. I called back- they refused to answer!!! 3rd issue- there was an awful sewer smell coming from the restroom!! I did not call them because I knew they would do nothing. My group was willing to lose out on money if we could get a hotel or somewhere else to stay the 2nd night- NO LUCK!!! We didn't know it was Fashion Week or something. Moral to this story- DO NOT STAY AT THIS...
Read moreI stayed at WS Opéra - Laffitte for a conference, expecting basic comfort and professionalism — what I experienced was a nightmare.
From the first night, I couldn’t sleep due to loud construction going on right outside the hotel all night long. I was sleep-deprived for my entire stay, which completely undermined the reason I was there: to attend an international conference and perform at my best.
On top of that, the fan only works if you leave all the main lights on, which is absurd and unbearable in this heat. It felt like some sort of punishment to choose between sweating in silence or trying to sleep under blazing lights.
I contacted the hotel multiple times via their WhatsApp number and the Booking.com messaging system — the only communication channels they provide. They replied with vague promises about “reaching management” and even called me at one point, only to repeat the same empty assurances. A full week passed with no solution, no follow-up, no accountability.
Even Booking.com confirmed that the hotel completely ignored their request to respond to my complaint.
This was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life. Poor communication, no resolution, and zero regard for guest well-being. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to look elsewhere — you...
