This hotel is conveniently located on major metro routes making it very easy to reach most tourist attractions directly without transfers. ||The hotel is located directly above the metro line and yes you can hear the metro on lower floors. It’s not disruptive but if you’re a very light sleeper, you may be bothered. Given the great location and affordable price, I was completely unbothered by this. ||The breakfast is sparse — consisting of: bacon, scrambled eggs, low quality pastries, yogurt, cereal, modest spread of two hams and cheese and jams, honey, and Nutella, and a selection of two juices, water, coffee and teas. While it was very practical and healthy, it did not offer much variety. ||The beds were comfortable but expect small sizes. The AC worked very well and kept our room icy in the August heat. The AC unit did drip from time to time. The room featured a full bathroom with a tub with a shower, a sink with vanity space and a toilet. It was plenty of room for our 5 day stay. House keeping regularly refreshed our towels. The hotel does not offer lotion, toothpaste, floss or a shower cap, but does offer body wash and shampoo and a hairdryer. ||And finally, during our visit the hotel lobby was under construction. It changed every day and we got to see new additions like the arrival of the new desk and painting. The construction was not disruptive but may shock some fussy travellers. ||This is an affordable hotel in a very convenient location in Paris. If you’re expecting high luxury, look elsewhere, but if you’re a seasoned traveller that is somewhat accommodating and knows that a good location and safety is most important, then you’ll be fine. We would stay here again — especially to see the results of their...
Read moreI would advise against staying at this hotel. The photos online were extremely misleading, the rooms were smaller than expected, barely enough to fit a suitcase, let alone move around comfortably. When we arrived, the rooms we were given had no air conditioning and this is especially hard to deal with considering how hot that week was. The heat and the tiny, cramped conditions, made for an extremely uncomfortable stay. Another major issue was the fact that there was ongoing construction going on throughout the hotel during our stay. This was never disclosed at the time of booking. The lobby was reduced to a narrow walkway, and the maintenance workers were constantly in the stairwells and hallways, making the already small, outdated space feel even more crowded and chaotic. To make matters worse, I left with bite marks all over my legs which I believe to be bed bugs. That reason alone should make anyone avoid this place. Between the false advertising, suffocating rooms, disruptive construction, and possible bed bug issue, this was a terrible experience. Having to stay at this hotel for the time we were in Paris severely compromised our time in the city. This hotel is not a reflection of the price I paid. Had this been a more affordable hotel these circumstances might have been more understandable but considering the fact that I paid good money for my stay here and this was the experience I had I am extremely disappointed. It would be unjust to not receive some sort of compensation for this. I would strongly advise against booking a stay here, there are far better and more reliable options in Paris...
Read moreWe stayed for 1 night at the Hôtel Excelsior Opéra.||The location is excellent. The big department stores are a two minute walk away from the hotel and most major sights are within walking distance. There are also several metro stations nearby.||We had room 532 which was bigger and better than we expected. It was designed to sleep 3 people, had a good size bathroom with a bathtub and shower in connection with, an espresso machine and some capsules, a good size desk and two chairs, and a stocked minibar.||The noise insulation was great. The hotel is situated on a busy road and we did not hear any noise.||The breakfast room was on the first floor. It was fairly small but did not get crowded. The breakfast had all the standard offerings: Breads, croissants, pastries, ham, two kinds of cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, scrambled eggs and tea and coffee. The items were of good quality (we especially liked the hard cheese), the selection was replenished regularly and we found it to be good value for 14 euros.||The only 2 inconveniences were that there was no price list for the minibar, it was readable only using a QR code / reader. For us, two elderly people, that was too much technology. Other people have mentioned that there should have been free bottled water in the room, but we didn't get that.||Still, we are very likely to be back as we...
