My wife and I will never forget the sad and horrific experience we had at Chohuchou Hotel for the rest of our lives. Unfortunately, we became victims of theft in our own hotel room.
The 18 carat gold antique S.T. Dupont lighter that my mother gave to my father as a wedding gift and then passed on to me from my father was stolen from our room along with its box. This stolen lighter was a family heirloom of infinite sentimental value for me, far beyond being an accessory of material value.
Unfortunately, we realized the situation on the day we were to leave the hotel and immediately conveyed this problem to the hotel staff. Unfortunately, the hotel staff did not take the situation seriously. So much so that hours later, it turned out that the hotel management was not informed even about the situation.
Then we patiently informed the hotel management about the incident, and although we shared the details of the night in which the incident was likely to have occurred, these details seemed to be ignored.
The hotel authorities simply told us that they talked to the staff who were in and out of the room about the situation and these people told them that they had not taken anything. What surprised us more was that they wanted to close the case by saying that a simple question they asked to those who could have been responsible would have been enough.
This raises a fundamental question; does a person who has committed theft confess to the crime with a simple question asked to him/her?
We said this would not be enough and demanded that the cameras be examined. The hotel management said that we should go to the police station to open a case so they could examine the camera recordings but when we went to the nearby police station, the file could not be opened because all the staff had gone out to an emergency operation.
On Monday, first of all, we will initiate the necessary legal proceedings in our country and make the necessary applications to the French authorities. In addition, We will also contact the management of Elagancia Hotels, the group of companies to which the Chouchou Hotel belongs.
It is inconceivable that this could have happened in a beautiful boutique hotel with a considerable nightly rate, located in an exclusive neighborhood of Paris.
Besides this sad theft incident, the other disturbing thing was the way the situation was handled by the hotel management. The hotel management displayed extremely irresponsible behavior by ignoring the security weakness in the...
Read moreWe stayed at Chouchou for 4 nights for our honeymoon. The hotel is well located, and the decor is really good. We liked the bains, and thought this added something special to our stay, the staff were mostly very pleasant, especially the concierge, who was exceptional. Mostly the staff were very accommodating, although we got a bit of snarkiness a few times when we asked for something - we are very low maintenance so this surprised me.|For Paris, the room was large, as was the bathroom. There were free pastries in reception each day.||Upon arrival at 4pm, our room wasn’t ready. We were offered a drink, although we didn’t have to wait for long. ||The room was very hot, there is air conditioning, although this is centrally controlled. We asked if we could control our own and were told no (three times). In my opinion, there is no point in air conditioning in the room if someone else is controlling the temperature. The staff’s solution was to ‘open the window’ - not doable during New Years if you’re trying to sleep and people are partying until 4/5 in the morning.||One morning one of the staff started crashing around next to our room (cleaning cupboard maybe) at 6.15, this carried on for 30 minutes and meant by the time they’d finished I was wide awake.||We had to ask each day for water and tea to be replenished. One day we went out early in the morning, leaving the ‘service the room’ tag on the door, we returned at 3.45pm to find our room hadn’t been cleaned and towels not replenished, we called down to say we’d be back out at 5pm and they said they couldn’t help us as room cleaning finished at 4pm. We then had to ask them to bring more towels, take away dirty cups etc as they weren’t going to bother. This was all handled very awkwardly.||This wasn’t the cheapest option and we came out of it wishing that we’d tried somewhere else, which is disappointing as it was our honeymoon. This could be such an amazing little hotel, but the housekeeping element let it down, also the air conditioning situation is pretty disappointing - if I choose to stay somewhere with aircon then it is because I want to choose the...
Read moreAt first the experience seemed to be promising. Had its hiccups due to the bar not being open so we could sit for a drink for 2 days of our 4 day visit. My biggest issue was the day I checked out.
I had a 5:30 flight. It was 10am and we wanted to checkout and go explore around the city. The hotel said they had a safety room to store suitcases. Conveniently, the same person that checked me out asked me until what time I would leave the suitcase, which this is not something that he should worry about. All my suitcases had locks, and my carryon had my valuable belongings, specially a new Bottega Veneta purse I had purchaSe 2 days ago.
This purse was placed inside mu suitcase on the top, o that it wouldn't get squeezed. I had JUST packed my bag and place it inside my suitcase. Let's remember this is a new expensive item in which I was being extra careful for.
I gave my suitcases to the guy and saw him put them in the "safe room". I was told I needed 2hs ahead to be at the airport, so we arrive back at the hotel with 1h before needing to go to the airport. Since we arrive, the guy was nervous and telling us we should leave because of traffic. He also said once you your uber is almost here I can bring your luggage out. This was a set up and it gave us no chance to look into our bag until we got to the airport. As soon as I got there I opened my bag and grabbed my passports and my BV was not there anymore.
I can assure you my suitcase was unzipped with a lock (with a ball pen I presume) and inside that hotels safety room I wouldn't trust the manager either, she says there is no chance it happened, but conveniently there is NO CAMERAS on the most...
