Paris Metro Adventure | Trying Out a Central Vietnamese Hotspot with My Classmates The last photo reveals the restaurant's name. Address: 30 Bd des Italiens, 75009 Paris, France Vietnam, being a former French colony, means Vietnamese cuisine in France is absolutely delicious. In Barcelona, I've also dined at a few Vietnamese spots, and the overall experience was that there were fewer restaurants, prices were higher, and the selection of dishes was limited. In 2019, there were only two Vietnamese restaurants to choose from in Barcelona. Surprisingly, despite Barcelona having a lower overall cost of living compared to Paris, it was actually Paris where Vietnamese food was cheaper (referring to the overall price level). This restaurant felt more like a place to check off the list and snap a few photos, haha. For a more authentic experience, I'd recommend the 13th arrondissement or another spot recommended by my Vietnamese friends. 🌝 #ParisVietnameseFood #WhatToEatInParis #HotspotCheckIn #LittleParisLife #ParisGuide

The vibe here is very cool. There was a dj the evening we visited. It felt like a club. Service was fast. Food and drinks came out super fast. We had pho, chicken spring rolls, prawn summer rolls (goi cuon), and vermicelli with beef (bún). Quality of food was OK. I've had better in other restaurants. There was mango and avocado in the summer rolls. Not traditionally meant to be in there but it tasted good. There was plenty of mint and coriander on the side/garnishing with the pho and bún. Price is a little steep for portion size and quality of dishes. The music was quite loud so it was a little difficult to have a conversation. Overall I liked the restaurant concept. Food was good, but could be better. Service was great. For everything we had (2 mains, 2 starters and 2 drinks), it came close to 65€ for 2 people. In my opinion, Vietnamese food should not be that expensive.

We loved it here! Our original plans were canceled, so we had to make some quick lunch decisions (it was late afternoon). I feel like we couldn’t have been more blessed to find this spot right at a convenient corner. The kids loved their pork buns and potatoes, the beef soup was terrific and I ate my vermicelli bowl so fast I forgot to grab a picture, but I highly recommend it :) Appetizers were a mix of traditional and unique, but were fun to try and tasty as well. Atmosphere was great, the quality, flavor and portion size of food was good for the cost and the service was super friendly and efficient (they were helpful with little kids too!)

It appears that Paris reviewers of Vietnamese eats fail to have a sound reference of authentic Vietnamese pho. I ordered a beef pho and was horrified to see mushrooms and carrots added into the soup that came in a shallow bowl? Not the generous portions that authentic Vietnamese food prescribes. When mentioning whether there was fish sauce added to the flat and tasteless broth, the waitress looked confused and said “we add oyster sauce”. Traditionally, pho does not have oyster sauce, that is sauce readily included in Chinese food. She also did not understand what hoisin sauce was either. Not the response one would receive from a Vietnamese restaurant with the name “Hanoi Ca Phe”. When I mentioned that fish sauce should be included, she abruptly offered that it was “their” style. I asked “so, your food is fusion?”. She said no. My overall take of this restaurant is that it absolutely cannot claim to be a Vietnamese restaurant if their pho is simply a distorted disappointing version of a flat meat soup with a number of random ingredients thrown in; does not arrive with Vietnamese basil or bean sprouts, and the staff are clearly untrained in the condiments of sauces that accompanies a pho. It was a very disappointing and unsatisfying feed. Had I known that I would be eating this strange meat soup variant I would have walked further to something that was worth my time and money.

Bad Pho! Did not have a good food experience here having Pho for the lunch. The broth was OK (nothing special) but the dish also included boiled carrots and mushrooms (shiitake) for some reason. There were only 3 small pieces of meat. The price was 15.90 euros. I understand that this is their own interpretation of Pho, and they list carrots and mushrooms in the description of the dish, but still, it feels like a scam as it’s supposed to be 2 extra different cuts of meat (or meatballs) instead of carrots and mushrooms. This choice doesn’t add anything to the dish, apart from the unpleasant surprise. Also, they provide you with 2 different dips, but there was not enough meat to dip, so silly. 3 stars as the staff/service was very nice, overall the quality of ingredients was good, and the soup was edible overall. Pho was 1-2 stars for me. Do not recommend for the Pho.

If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food, this isn’t it. If you’re a hipster who has never tried Vietnamese food and just want to go somewhere with a fun environment, then this is the place for you. The staff were nice but it’s a shame they took the vegan pho off the menu because it’s a staple Vietnamese dish rather than Pad Thai which you may surmise has Thai origins. Seriously, the food tasted like a backpacker went to Hanoi for a week and tried the food there but was too drunk during his trip to remember what the flavors were so he just added random local vegetables and light seasoning. The pho didn’t come with basil or lime and it’s as if they’ve never heard of tofu before. It’s okay because from skimping out on ingredients, they were able to build a heated patio and decorate the place to their heart’s content. I regret eating here.
