Lovely hotel, location and staff but room is awful. Im staying in a standard room on the top floor (58) and have experienced a few issues...can't open the bathroom door properly because the beds in the way. Can't open the window/doors fully because the beds in the way. No air con so need window open overnight but due to room being next to the lift, the window next to the lift means anyone can see in, and the spotlight above the lift is so bright and shines onto the bed it's impossible to sleep unless the curtains are drawn, so any air from having the window open doesn't get through (I now have a fan in the room so hopefully this will help).
Windows in the bathroom open inwards and are above the shower-over-bath so can't open those until you're out of the bath or shower. No extractor fan either so just steamy in the bathroom meaning the mirror doesn't clear quickly. Bathroom is quite nice and an ok size but needs a very thorough clean as lots of pink/orange mould around windows and along the bottom of the shower curtain. Very low ceiling and the ceiling above where you'd stand under the shower has hairs stuck on it (not mine, I'm blonde, these are dark).
Only two plug sockets in the room and neither are near the bed so not convenient for charging phone overnight especially if you need or want it near you overnight. Plenty of storage for clothes etc, safe in room and full length mirror which is welcome.
This room needs an overhaul - it is very dated decor in comparison to the rest of the hotel.
On a plus, the bed is really comfy, the breakfast is good and the staff welcoming and friendly.
I would stay again, but not in a...
Read moreI'm giving them a solid 4 stars because the hotel is so well situated and the staff is so kind. The rooms don't have a fridge but they were willing to let me store something in their kitchen fridge overnight. I didn't get breakfast because I prefer to eat outside the hotel.
However, room 54 is in desperate need of some fixes. The walls are beat up, the curtains broken and let sunlight in, and the window in the room doesn't fully close by design as it's from the who-knows-what hundreds. As such, I smelled cigarette smoke for the duration of my stay since people apparently smoke in the courtyard. The bathroom is a good size but unheated and so cold I couldn't bring myself to shower. The door hits the bed and the bed doesn't have a night stand. It has two small inserts that don't even fit a tiny water bottle.
The linens and pillows were incredibly comfortable and I slept well, but the mattress was so firm that by day two it was uncomfortable. I'm a side sleeper and not being able to sink into the bed at all puts pressure on certain points, causing pain.
Oh. And the lighting in the bathroom is terrible, an fyi for the make-up aficionados.
I'm surprised I paid $180 ish a night for that, but the whole area is pretty expensive and I still...
