An excellent location – within walking distance of many sights and with easy transport links to others. Quite a smart area of Paris – lots of posh shops around (although their potential patrons would probably stay in swankier hotels) – something reflected in the price? Plenty of restaurants in the area, although they did seem to cater largely to the tourist trade.||I had a somewhat poky room near the top of the building (the fifth floor) – sadly, often the fate of the solo traveller. Having said that, it was perfectly serviceable, given that I was out and about most of the time. I was somewhat worried by the fact that there was a single lift with an advertised capacity of two people, but, in practice, that was never a problem.||Breakfast was available, subject to confirming the previous evening. A set (i.e. non-buffet) continental breakfast, which I found more than adequate, and probably a good option given the locality.||The hotel is idiosyncratically decorated (is this what makes a hotel ‘boutique’?), with each floor themed round a different continent. Much of the decoration is derived from historical illustrations and not all of it (e.g. the murals in my Africa-themed room) would really pass a wokeness test. ||A major plus point was that all the staff (on reception, in the breakfast room, etc) were exemplary – friendly, helpful and efficient. A nice touch was a pre-stay emailed ‘survey’ which led to useful advice re transport links, local restaurants, etc.||Would I stay here again? Well, I might look into more competitively priced options, but I would...
Read moreThe WORST bed I’ve ever slept on. The room was dirty. Stayed 3 nights and unfortunately it was non refundable which is why we didn’t move. I had also booked a street view room and received a courtyard view.
Decided to stay in Paris an extra night and moved hotels to another one down the street. Staying there wasn’t an option.
Even the electric outlets hadn’t been wiped down. The shower head was broken and you had to hold it in a perfect angle.
Upon checkout, we looked under the bed to ensure we weren’t missing anything, and found a dirty slipper (not ours, we never used the slippers) and so much dust and hair! Gross. So they don’t even sweep?!!! Those cleaners need to be overseen.
When I asked for an extra blanket, I had to get it myself . No additional staff available (not the front door guy’s fault but whoever sets up staffing) to bring it up, so I had to get my young son up to come with me.
Breakfast? Didn’t opt for this because you need to let them know if you’ll have it the night before, morning of requests aren’t available.
Staff was friendly when storing our key but other than that and location, you get what you paid for.
I’d rather not go on holiday than to spend evenings on that hard as a brick bed. Lesson learned, I will never book a cost saving hotel.
These hotel 4-5 star reviews must be from people with extremely low standards. Or they must be from when the hotel opened.
Note: I’m not even that picky and my 5 year...
Read moreThe staff at the reception were amazing. The hotel is clean but worn. The rooms are very very very small. I had a single room. There was no place to leave my suitcase other than the floor. The room had a shaggy carpet that looked quite dirty but there were slippers in the bathroom so I survived that. There was also a bathrobe which was quite handy. The space is utilized in the best way possible but it can still feel quite claustrophobic. The plug next to my nightstand was not working(not sure if related to light being switched off) but I caught it early and charged my phone somewhere else. There was no chair to sit in the room although my friends staying in other rooms had a chair (there was no space really to put one). The room had to floors, the bathroom was downstairs which was quite fun and quirky but dangerous if you need to use the bathroom during the night or half asleep in the morning. The style was quite nice and unique. The door of the room (although there were 2 of them) doesn’t lock. I didn’t try the breakfast but considering the size of the breakfast area I would be surprised if it would have been exceptional. The location of the hotel though is quite awesome. You can just walk to the louvre and the place de la Concorde. Also very close to 2...
