This is a long review. To summarise, a lot went wrong when we stayed at La Clef Louvre and the response from the management of the hotel has been very disappointing. I cannot recommend this hotel. *I now see a very disappointing response from Management 7 months after our stay.
Having been regular Citadines clients we were excited to have the opportunity to try the 5 star La Clef establishment. The stay began quite well, a rather nervous but polite receptionist checked us in early and showed us to our apartment. A very friendly attendant brought our luggage to our room promptly. We were initially impressed with the presentation of the apartment and were looking forward to our 6 night stay.
Then it all went downhill. One of the beds was broken and had obviously been repaired before but had not been checked to see if it was comfortable. After one night I reported this to reception along with the blown globe in the bedside lamp. We were reassured that all will be fixed. We returned at midday to find a fixed lamp but a bed that was still broken and a note advising us that it had been fixed. We returned to the receptionist who again reassured us that it would be repaired. Late that afternoon we returned to find the bed still not fixed. We returned to reception who then sent maintenance/housekeeping to the apartment. He confirmed that the bed was broken and left. We then waited for something to happen. At one point the phone rang but there was nobody on the other end. We became impatient waiting, so I tried phoning reception and realised the phone was not working. I then returned to reception to be told that they had been trying to contact us to tell us that we will have to move to another apartment. This meant having to repack all our luggage, empty the fridge etc, which we did promptly only to be then told the new room was not ready. We waited over an hour and finally were able to move to the new room (identical, 2 floors up). The new room had no bedside lamps, so once again we contacted reception. The lamps were replaced.
The following night we used the washing machine and halfway through we realised there was water coming from the back of the machine. Once again, we contacted reception, maintenance arrived, worked on the machine and advised that he would have to return the following day. Eventually the machine was fixed.
Throughout all of this we were never contacted by reception or management to check on us. It was only when I outlined what had happened in a review did we receive any contact from management. She sent an insincere apology and an offer of a credit on my ASR card which we have not received to this date despite receiving 2 rather blunt emails ensuring me it would be done and another ensuring me that it had been done. As mentioned, we have received nothing at this stage. (7 MONTHS SINCE OUR STAY)
We are regular travellers to Paris and each time we try different areas and different apartment hotels in search of the perfect one. As we are getting older, we are hoping to find one that we can use regularly to not have to move around. When we initially checked into La Clef Louvre we thought this might be the one, but our confidence was shattered, not so much by the problems we had but more so by the way it was handled. I must say that we have never had so many things go wrong when staying at other hotels, but it was the lack of care and concern that we received on this occasion that was truly disappointing. Not only does management seem uncaring, we also found staff poorly trained. As much as I would like to recommend this hotel. Based on our...
Read moreI have not the slightest idea how this place is a 5 star hotel. Despite not having a single amenity of which to speak (pool, bar, restaurant, etc.), the staff seems to embrace fully the French stereotype: If you are looking for rudeness, this is a one-stop-shop, my friend. For starters, night one - our AC went out. And when I say 'went out,' I mean it was blowing hot air and could not be adjusted otherwise: not cooler. not off. nothing. The room was uninhabitable. I asked the front desk if they had anyone who could repair it. Their answer was 'tomorrow.' I asked if there was any way they could accommodate me given the circumstances (perhaps a different room; perhaps a discount; perhaps comp. my breakfast...). The look I received in response was pure 'mystification.' Accommodation? What is that. It seems this hotel and its staff are oblivious to customer satisfaction and prefer a 'take or leave it' approach. Had I not paid $1,000 per night, I would have left it. Further, at time of check out, I learned that despite having stayed in the Royal Suite - I was charged for additional soap. During the course of our stay, we requested an additional shower pod (we were provided two for our four day stay and requested an additional seeing as how housekeeping did not see fit to replenish). When they sought to charge me for same, I made mention of the AC issue (on which I had previously given up as I had already lost that battle, but hoped perhaps they would comp. THE SOAP in exchange) and was again advised that there was nothing they could do and they simply had to charge me for the additional soap. Unless you are in search of an enigma sent to test how far you can be pushed before abandoning your good manners -...
Read moreWe stayed in Le Clef Louvre for a week and the experience was awesome! The hotel is close to everything; for example it is only 2 minutes walk from the hotel to Palais Royal, 5 minutes walk to Louvre and Jardin Du Tuileries. Plus there are so many iconic spots which are walkable around the hotel. We tried to avoid public transportation and this hotel is a perfect choice.
The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. Camille printed a customized list of restaurants for our reference and she was very attentive to our needs.
The room was clean and excellent! It was like living in a spacious apartment; dish washers, washing machine and kitchen amenities are available in our room. The hotel is very into details; we were amazed that they provided high quality utensils, fine porcelains and silverware in the kitchen. I also slept well every night on this incredibly comfortable bed.
Don’t forget to enjoy your free afternoon tea at the lounge. After a morning’s walk we were tired, the best thing to do was to sit comfortably at the lounge and pour ourselves a cup of freshly brewed coffee, or get some fresh orange juice (they also serve other kinds of beverages including mango nectar, perfect for the kids). Pastries, madeleines and macaroons were also served. Note that the afternoon tea is self-serviced, and don’t expect too much food options, but such arrangement is already good enough to boost the energy.
Last but not least, Franprix and K Mart are very close to the hotel, you can get groceries conveniently. There are good bakeries, cafes and tonnes of Japanese restaurants around the hotel.
We will definitely come back to Le Clef Louvre when we visit...
