Don’t usually share reviews however experienced something that was beyond disappointing.
I visited Paris with my girlfriend (who is Asian) for her birthday celebrations. We often go to Cafe Kitsune in London as she loves their matcha. We have nothing but great service at their London branch.
We were freezing cold and went for a matcha here to warm up. I went to the toilet and she went alone to the tills to order.
She was told by a staff member that we could order takeaway only and couldn’t sit in (there were tables available and plenty of people sitting having drinks). We also asked if we can sit in with takeaway cups and were also told this was not allowed.
We were there at 5:30pm and the shop doesn’t close until 7pm therefore thought it strange. This was especially as two people in front of us were allowed to order and sit.
She informed me this when I returned therefore I asked the lady again and she did not allow us to sit. She was also saying to the next people who were a group of Middle Eastern people they were not allowed to sit in either.
I’d hate to misunderstand any situation however as we were leaving and figuring out what to do, they allowed the person behind us to order and sit down (who was a white, French lady)!
I can’t believe I am writing this but I sincerely hope that you as a business look into this. We both love Cafe Kitsune and cannot believe we had this experience.
Treating people in a different way depending on what language they speak or how they look is something that simply cannot be tolerated and I am very saddened to be...
Read moreOrdered my favourite drink - chai latte. Found it a bit too spicy, and ordered an extra cup of almond milk. When asking how much I should pay for this extra, they said that usually they’d charge, but since I found the drink too spicy, I don’t have to pay. That’s very nice of them :)
The ambience was sooo cozy, a perfect spot to hide from gloomy weather at this time of year.
Laptops aren’t allowed, which is quite a bummer. Many Parisian cafes have this rule, as there’s a big amount of tourists and they’d rather serve to more people than have fewer taking up sitting spots with their laptops & sipping on one cup of coffee per day haha :) So I honestly get it! As much as I love the idea of working from such an ambient place, I understand the business perspective of it.
I sincerely hope they don’t lower the quality as it becomes more popular. Otherwise, it risks looking like Starbucks…many chains, such as Joe & Juice also got dirtier and worse, as popularity has increased. So, I wish Café Kitsuné to remain as kindhearted towards their clients & clean as I experienced it today :)
5 stars and will definetely come back again. Written by @so.sofiko - add me on...
Read moreWe had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at the restaurant upstairs from this café. As an Indian Sikh family, we felt blatantly disregarded and disrespected. My husband wears a turban, and it was hard to ignore how differently we were treated compared to others.
We were seated at the same time as several other tables around us. Despite this, every single table that came after us was promptly greeted, served water, and attended to — while we were completely ignored. No water, no menus, no acknowledgment. It felt like we were invisible.
This wasn’t just poor service — it felt deliberate. We couldn’t help but feel that our appearance, specifically my husband’s turban, played a role in how we were treated. If that’s not discrimination, I don’t know what is.
No one should be made to feel unwelcome or second-class because of their race, religion, or appearance — especially not in a city that claims to value diversity and culture. I hope management takes this seriously and reflects on how guests from all backgrounds are being treated.
People working under the cafe are wonderful. No...
