I stayed at 1er Étage for 1 night at the beginning of June 2018. It was absolutely delightful. The hotel is set in a typical Parisian townhouse, which makes for a really authentic stay. It feels more like staying in a deluxe guesthouse rather than a hotel, but you do have the added benefits of being in one (e.g., daily housekeeping and a concierge). The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated and feel like the perfect fusion of elegance, boutique style and comfort.
We stayed in Room #1 - it was the perfect size, well decorated and just really charming overall. It had high ceilings and big windows, so it was very bright and open. It was air conditioned (and the air conditioning is very strong, perfect for summer!) and had a great WiFi connection and satellite TV. The bed and linens were SO comfortable and there was a large closet on either side of the bed itself. Our bed also had USB outlets and very small shelves conveniently located on either side (i.e., for easy phone charging at night - at least, that's what I used it for). The bathroom was my favourite part - mainly because I love a good shower and the walk-in shower in my room was not only huge, but had high pressure with continuously hot water and a huge bench to relax on! There is plenty of counter space and shelving by the sink. Oh! And the toilet is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a door. Loved it!
Being on the first floor of a Parisian townhouse, the hotel itself is quite intimate, but there is a large communal living room/lounge and an open kitchen where you can get complimentary drinks (coffee, tea and juice) and snacks (cookies and biscuits) 24/7. Furthermore, guests are served a continental breakfast every morning in the lounge. Despite the close proximity of the rooms and communal area, each room is incredibly private and you really cannot hear anything from the neighbouring spaces while you are in your room.
The hotel staff members are very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Not only did they allow us to temporarily store our bags in the lounge area both before check-in and after check-out (as we had time in the interim), they were also so kind as to give us amazing recommendations for where to spend our extra time. I also really appreciated how organized everything is. After you make your reservation, you are sent a detailed e-mail (with pictures) with all of the information you might need and instructing you where to find the hotel and how to access the building. You are even given entry codes for the (outdoor/indoor) entrances and for your room so that you're all set for check-in before you arrive. Maintaining communication with the hotel is super easy, as the staff members are very quick to respond to any questions and concerns you have via e-mail and through the chat system on their app. Yes! They have an app! It's actually pretty cool, because all guests have access to this mobile app, which provides tons of information about the city, where to go, where to eat and how to get there (maps).
The hotel is very centrally located. It is in the core of the Opera District on a really small quiet street just steps away from all the action. It's close to popular attractions (e.g., Opera Garnier and Théâtre Mogador), multiple metro stops, supermarkets, and, of course, shopping (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann)!
I honestly don't have a bad word to say about 1er Étage. I feel like the owners thought of every single detail possible to make sure that their guests have a comfortable, enjoyable and worry-free stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Paris, as it offers incredible value, comfort and amazing amenities. Not to mention, all of the staff members are so kind and helpful - they really care about their guests and are really there to make sure your stay is the best it can be.

Read moreThe Premier Etage on Rue Joubert is in such an amazing location, only two RER stops from Gare Du Nord (so handy for CDG) and so handy for the Grand Magasins (Galleries Lafayette, Printemp) and Opera Garnier. It is also 3 minutes walk from a Metro stop which will take to to the Grand Palais, Le Louvre, etc etc.
The apartments are superbly clean, and super easy to access with key codes, no need to be fumbling for hotel cards. The staff is really super helpful. The breakfast is super generous, I hate food waste so I asked them to bring me less after the first day.
The room I had (room 6) was a good size, though the shower is in the bedroom and in a separate bathroom, which I am not keen on, but I should have paid more attention when booking. The rooms and communal areas are well decorated, with quirky little decorations from some high end brands like Astaire de Villiette. There is a small kitchen, equipped with tea, coffee machine, microwave and kettle and some little sweet treats.
You can get to the apartments by a small flight or stairs or a lift. You have to step over the bottom part of the door as you enter the courtyard so it may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. There was also a step in the bedroom, between the area of the room with the sink and shower and the area with the bed.
Overall I would rate Premier Etage very highly for location, cleanliness, decor, staff...
Read moreI spent three nights in this amazing place and can't wait for going back asap . Forget the usual industrial accommodations: here you will stay in one of six (!) rooms in an apartment on the first floor of a belle époque palace, still enjoying all services of a traditional hotel: rooms have modern stylish furniture and are spacious thanks to the choice of keeping shower and sink into the room itself (don't worry: wc is separated!). Concierge is available from 7 to 3pm (on demand by phone afterwards) and eager to help. Breakfast is included in the room fee and it's surprisingly good: you get fresh fruits, french croissants, cakes and bread, yogurt and charcuterie and cheese and orange juice. Personnel is eager to bring more if you ask. Location is also super effective: the flat is just 2 mins walk from Opera Garnier which means you can walk to most tourist sites in the city center; several subway stations are 5 mins walk away too as well as a convenient stop for the airport bus (Roissybus). Remarkably good customer care too: they sent me detailed instructions the day before my arrival including a useful APP with many good suggestions to help me enjoying my time there and by which I could also check into the room so that I could directly enter it on my arrival without wasting time giving documents cards etc.. price was fair given the quality of...
