My dining experience at Mian Fan - Restaurant Asiatique in Paris was truly disappointing and left me wishing I had spent my €110 elsewhere. I came in with high hopes for a satisfying Asian meal, but what I received was tough, unchewable meat, dry fish, and abysmal service. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst meals I’ve had in Paris, and I left feeling frustrated and disrespected.

Terrible Food Quality

Let’s start with the food. We ordered a variety of dishes expecting flavorful and authentic cuisine, but what arrived was far from that. The meat in our dishes was practically inedible — hard, overcooked, and impossible to chew. Whether it was beef, chicken, or pork, the texture was universally bad, and it seemed like the meat had been sitting out for too long before cooking.

We also ordered a fish dish, hoping for something tender and moist, but it was completely dry and flavorless. The fish lacked freshness and tasted like it had been overcooked or reheated multiple times. Every bite was a struggle, and we ended up leaving most of the food untouched. Considering the price, I expected much higher quality, but the dishes were poorly executed and left a lot to be desired.

Abysmal Service

While the food was disappointing, the service managed to make the experience even worse. Our waitress, a young woman, was incredibly rude and dismissive. Despite being of the same Chinese heritage as us, she treated us with a level of disrespect that was shocking. We called her over three separate times to take our order, and each time, she responded with eye-rolls and visible annoyance. It was clear that she had no interest in helping us and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her by simply being there.

Instead of offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, her attitude left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Dining out should be a pleasant experience, but here, it felt like we were being tolerated rather than served. Even simple requests, such as asking for water or clarifying items on the menu, were met with disdain.

Unjustifiable Price

The final blow was the bill — an eye-watering €110 for a meal that was utterly unsatisfactory. For this price, I expected a quality dining experience with good food and decent service. Instead, we got poorly cooked dishes and staff who couldn’t care less about their customers. Every euro spent felt like a waste, and we left the restaurant feeling cheated.

Final Thoughts

Mian Fan promises an authentic Asian dining experience, but it fails miserably in delivering either quality food or service. The hard, unchewable meat and dry, flavorless fish are a testament to the lack of care in the kitchen. The waitress’s dismissive and disrespectful attitude made the experience even more unpleasant.

I rarely write such negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel others should be warned. If you’re looking for good Asian food in Paris, there are far better options out there. Avoid Mian Fan unless you want to waste your money and leave feeling disappointed and disrespected.

Dined here one evening, and the food was delicious. However the service is deplorable, as this same issue happened twice. I ordered the duck bo bun, and the spring rolls were so delicious that I ordered extra spring rolls, specified I wanted the same ones that were on my bo bun.

They bring me chicken (I believe) spring rolls, completely different ones from the ones I ordered. I let the waiter know, and he takes away the chicken spring rolls, and starts the correct ones letting me know that he would charge me less for the correct rolls as an apology.

It turns out that, not only did I get charged for both rolls, but he did not charge me any less for either. So I basically paid the menu price for the duck rolls, and also paid for the chicken rolls that I didn’t eat.

I really loved their food so I ordered at a later date on uber, again, same thing — duck spring rolls.

Imagine my dismay when I get crab rolls this time.

The waiter was very kind but honestly it’s not good practice to charge customers for your mistakes especially if they are mistakes you regularly make. Maybe I...

I really wanted to like this place. We are a family of 5 who love Asian food. We went as a family to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately we were disappointed. The soft shell crab was tasteless. Mostly just batter which was cold and spongy. It was also dry and I asked for sauce but they only offered soy sauce. The satay prawns I ordered were so tough and overcooked. Also not very warm. I suspect our dishes had been waiting in the kitchen for too long before being served. The gravy was watery and more like a gravy lacking depth of flavour. The dim sum we ordered also bland with little flavour. My daughter aged 9 however liked her crispy chicken and rice. I tried it and it was super bland but good for kids. I ordered an artisanal lemonade but it tasted cheap. We were so disappointed as we love Asian food and it has good reviews but it definitely did not taste authentic or have depth of flavour or was cooked well. It was more of a commercial take on Asian food. For true Asian food lovers I would avoid and search for authentic restaurants. So sorry i could not be...

This was an adhoc find on our recent trip to Paris. Having had great Asian food around the world, I can safely say the food was average. We ordered the Traditional Bo Bun and the Spicy Pai Fan. Tasted okay but nothing to write home about. What was truly atrocious was the service. I called in before arriving to check availability and the lady who answered hung up abruptly few seconds into the call. My initial thought was, she probably doesn’t speak English (which we later found out wasn’t the case). The second instance of the service debacle was the lady who took our order. We were literally the only two people on the top floor and she couldn’t be bothered to answer our questions about the drink of menu. Without answering- she simply walked off. If I was a Paris resident- this would be a restaurant I would avoid. With average food and seriously poor service- they need to relook at how they treat their paying customers.
