A must stay property as it will give you a true Parisian experience. This is a small boutique hotel. Not a massive grand scale hotel .
Stumbled onto this property when looking for a points stay. Could not have been happier with our 6 nights. Pros; the staff! From the front desk to the housekeeping. Super friendly and engaging. A shout out to the young gentleman that works the evening bar champagne service as well as the older gentleman for morning service . Really outstanding in the service and demeanor . Would hire them both immediately. The room is small . Americans take note , this is not a room at the JW. It is a typical European room. ( I have had smaller rooms in NYC) Ours was rally laid out well with a small balcony and doors to open to let fresh air in. Small love seat , table and two chairs. Bed was comfortable and linens changed daily if you want . Small bathroom and a shower tub combo that might be a little difficult with mobility issues. I think you can get a shower room . AC works really well for a euro hotel. Small safe and small refrigerator with a little room for your own drinks. Space taken up by items for purchase . Hair dryer that the wife appreciates . One of my fav things in the hotel was the small “harry potter” elevator. Only one in hotel so be prepared to climb the stairs. Typical in this style hotel. I loved it.
Location: just about a 5 min or less walk from three diff Metro lines . About 8 min from the Trocadéro and arguably the best view of the Eiffel Tower. Some really great food options within 5 min NOT AT THE TROCADÉRO! We could across the street and a few just min away . A do it yourself laundry across the street if you are traveling with a family for more than a few days. Like 10 euro and done . I normally send it out but with a group that can be crazy pricy. A small grocery store( might be massive for Paris) about 300’ away for room wine and snacks.
A couple of CONS: not going to ding stars for these but something to consider. I find that in this day and age of multiple electronic devices that there is not a universal usb hub on the desk . I have one travel inverter but with 4 devices. Phone, go pro etc it becomes a hassle. Bring a EU power strip . All outlets are baseboard level. There was a small split of wine on the credenza. With no price list. When I travel and I travel a lot, and there is a bottle there without a price list it is usually complimentary for a titanium or Marriott ambassador’s. Not this case. 25E for a tiny bottle of wine. Not a big deal - I guess I could have asked. All the items in fridge are for sale too and normal inflated hotel rates. I recommend going the 300’ to the small (or large) grocery shop .
This is now my go to...
Read moreI will say this is the first 1-star review I have provided for any Starwood Property. While there were positives to the hotel, the list of miserable experience outweighs providing a one star.
The building is wonderful, a picture perfect exterior one would expect from a Hotel in Paris. The location is walking distance from the Eiffel tower.
The Hotel is small, including the elevator that holds 4 person max with up and personal almost body to body contact experience.
The bathroom door had water damage, warped at the bottom from improper repairs using what looks like drywall spackle applied unevenly. The bathroom door handle looked like it would fall off any day and held on with 1/2 an inch of caulking at the top and 1/4 inch at the bottom. Yes, the door handle was not straight. The repairs to this door were so ridiculous I've taken pictures, lots of them around my room. light fixture glass chipped, molding/trim about 1/4 inches or more off with gaps. TV wouldn't turn on, the phone had to get attention for me to dial front desk. The only single outlet next to the bed was so worn and loose, my EU USB plug just fell out. The toilet required 2-3 flushes. Toilet paper felt like a kitchen towel, my family used the softer tissue.
The room was small even though I was told the room was the larger room. We had to re-arrange the furniture to open our suitcases.
Any questions at the Front Desk seems optional and they didn't want to be bothered as some of the replies were to call them later when I get to the room or next time I come to the front desk they will have it for me or even pointing me to the website or Starwood number to call.
Their concierge service, on the other hand, was fantastic. It was hard to figure out if I'm speaking with concierge or front desk as they both work out of the front desk area at first.
No fitness center, no pool, but one of them gave me a coupon to use at a nearby fitness center couple of blocks away. When I arrived at the fitness center, I couldn't get in as the doors were locked. I called the Front Desk of the Hotel for instructions, they told me to call the Gym - they don't know.
If you are a Platinum, you do get to choose breakfast over points. I noticed all guests receive pastry and fruit selection of 2-3 at the counter. The omelet and poached eggs were nice but the selection needs improvement. I wouldn't have selected the breakfast over points if I had to do it again. I would not...
Read moreThe first disappointment was at check-in. I had requested check-in at 11AM. This seemed to be okay, but when we arrived at the hotel nobody had checked this and nothing was available. So we had to wait for two hours, and after traveling all night this was very sad to hear.
When we finally could check-in we had to leave our luggage at the reception because the elevator took forever and it´s to small for people and luggage. They told us they would send the luggage to the room as soon as the elevator came down. It took 25 minutes before I had to go and look for it. Apparently they are so understaffed, that they had to wait until a free moment at the reception before delivering the luggage.
After a few hours we opened the minibar to get some water. There was one bottled water and a bottle of half empty Ice Tea from the previous person who had the room, Very poorly cleaned! It was 30 degrees in Paris these days so you would imagine they would have some bottled water in the room for the guests.
I pointed out to the reception staff about the minibar and even showed them a picture. The minibar was never cleaned or refilled the entire stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. It´s no buffet, so you have to order from a menu. You can choose between Continental (Fruit and coffee) or Full breakfast (Eggs, ham, fruit and coffee). I paid extra for breakfast included, so we went with the full breakfast. The food was good. After the meal they wanted to charge us extra since we chose the full breakfast. Apparently only the continental breakfast is included. Nobody told us this when we ordered. The manager came and said that they usually didn't inform the guests about this because it´s to difficult. Again another disappointment.
The bathroom was poorly cleaned every day. And I don't think they have used a vacuum cleaner in the room for a long time.
We paid a huge amount of money to live in a "luxury" hotel, and this is what we got. I am beyond disappointed, and I haven't even listed everything in this review.
When we checked out they didn't offer to get us a taxi or anything. It was not even a goodbye and welcome again.
I will obviously never go back to this hotel. I am a frequent traveller, and have never been this mad and disappointed in a hotel.
I will definitely ask for reimbursement because of this...
