Where to start. Booked this hotel as part of a trip where I planned on proposing to my now fiancé. I hadn’t stayed at the hotel before but the location seemed perfect. I reached out to the hotel and the manager Deborah got in contact quickly, explaining she would do her best to secure a room overlooking the arc de triumph, as well as some other additional token gestures. The room is by far the best view in Paris, from any hotel I have stayed in. We couldn’t believe it. To wake up everyday and be able to clearly see the arc de triumph and the Parisian streets was a dream come true. The staff are so friendly and polite, catering to every need we had. The location is absolutely perfect if you want to hit the shops on the champs elysee, and is roughly a 20 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower as well. This hotel has become part of my fiancée and mines history, we are so looking forward to coming back in March 2020. I can not recommend this hotel enough. Thankyou to Deborah...
Read moreIf location is your only criteria then The Royal Hotel will be acceptable. If like me it was purely business then a warm, clean and comfortable bed meets my needs. That apart there is very little here to tempt you back. Expensive breakfast €19...a rather tired and dated decor (plenty of brown, dark and depressing) and a lounge / bar area that did not encourage you to hang around too long. Not a great many eateries close by like other locations. Not recommended for a short break, one night quite adequate. The couple of staff I encounteted were pleasant & friendly. The photographs on websites and lietrature paint a totally different picture of reality. Like many Paisian hotels, all front reception lights and little beyond. In the North we call this fur coat and no knickers. I could not in all honesty recommend a rather expensive 'average' hotel. Far better...
Read moreOutside boarded up and broken windows (gilet juane) is the best way way to welcome guests. Staff speaks English only at reception. Rooms are nice if you are lucky to be assigned few specific ones (been here twice for work and had a nice one the first time an horrible one the second). Anyway very noisy from very early hours in the morning. Walls of my room were shaking due to outside works. What I think is totally uneccettable is to find mice happily running around in the hall, bar, and jumping on the sofas proving that they are used to the place and not afraid of people. Sorry but is totally crazy even for a 1star hotel, here we talking about a 4 star hotel. Services reduced to real basic: room & breakfast, nothing...
