The food was fine, the servers attentive and funny, and the atmosphere was ok. But the fine experience went away when the server who was so attentive brought the bill and told us service was NOT INCLUDED. From the way he was talking before, he thought we had just gotten to Paris, but we’ve been here for 2 weeks and been to Paris before and I told him this was the first restaurant we’ve been to where service was not included. I then told him the menu said it was included. He then started into a whole story about “all the taxes the restaurant pays in France” (the TVA/VAT) that isn’t included in the prices for the food (wrong). The interaction really ruined the whole nice meal we had when we really needed it. I won’t come back or recommend this place because of this interaction. Update for owner: we were in Thursday May 22 about 6:30pm. The gentleman with the glasses was terrific and recommended the delicious profiteroles. It was the server with tanned skin, maybe part Asian. Thank you for responding because being lied to like that for extra money really ended our trip on...

My girlfriend and I went to Paris for a few days. The first evening we decided we'd go for a drink here. (the name of the business was too good to be true)

The waiter was very charming and funny, we had a small chat and we really got along. Big + to the waiter for also being a good entertainer!

We went back here the next day, again for a drink but this time we also ordered some food. The sausage we ordered was very good, although the fries were a bit harder to eat. (Small bits, but hey, they were warm and it was alot!)

I would definitely go back here if we visit Paris again!

!Shout out...

very nice restaurant. good location, low prices and very friendly staff. we ordered cocktails and a cheese platter and were served very fast! the cocktails were actually very good, the only thing we would criticize is the one underwhelming sort of cheese and the stale bread — hence the three stars. we are pretty sure that if you order something else it would deserve the 4, maybe even 5 stars! (also someone was smoking on the balcony above the restaurant and they dropped the cigarette butt, which landed in one of our (thankfully by that time...

We were happy with our experience at Le Balzac. Staff was friendly and helpful. I chose the ham and cheese omelette, which came with a salad(in reality it was simply lettuce with some dressing, but that has been common an various places so can't complain too much). My wife has the cheeseburger. We asked for medium well and got medium rare, not a huuuuuuge issue. Lastly, the chocolate mousse was delicious. Overall, not bad if you're in town for more than a few days and every dining experience doesn't have to be fabulous.
