We really enjoyed our meal here! First, this place was very welcoming and friendly to English speaking American tourists. My wife and I wanted to try a few French dishes and had wandered away from the Notre Dame tourist crowds. Next, we started with escargot. Both of us had never had this dish before. Our kind host even educated us on how to eat this simple, yet fantastic dish. After this, we ordered Blanquette de Veau (Old Fashioned Veal Stew) and Confit de Canard (Duck, Slow Roasted, over potatoes). The veal stew was a delightful combination of flavor and went well with rice. The duck was super tender and tasted amazing. The fried potatoes paired well with the duck. Finally, we enjoyed Tart aux Pom (thinly sliced apples on a rich buttery crust, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream). This was the perfect summertime desert.

This cafe/restaurant is wonderful. It has a cozy, very Parisian atmosphere, very affordable prices, and the food quality is spectacular. Every day they have a new menu, and all the options are delicious. It's so good that I had dinner at the place several times during my vacation. The owners' kindness makes the place truly wonderful. They are like angels – sweet, friendly, caring, and always willing to help. When I return to Paris, I will definitely come back.

I greatly enjoyed lunch at L'Écritoire. Friendly multilingual service, putting up with my poor Français, a hearty pesto pasta with three fromages to follow. Washed down with a fine Chardonnay. The atmosphere under cooling tall trees, a large bubbling fountain beneath the solemn gaze of Sorbonne notables like Auguste Compte. All for a reasonable price and open on Sunday. A 5 star experience 🙏🙏

My daughters and myself were seated sat in front of the fountains by one of the male waiters, only to have the female waiter (with the bifocals) come and move us back to the back row where people were smoking. She obviously has power issues. I proceeded to order (from same waitress) a glass of wine and asked for water at the same time. I was given a look like, I shouldn’t have been asking for a glass of water in this sweltering heat! I can’t speak for the rest of the menu or staff but HER customer service skills are atrocious! She should be behind a bar. Not interacting with customers. Oh and the bathrooms are completely disgusting and smell worse than any urine soaked path...

Decent food but terrible service. I ordered a cappuccino with soy milk. When the waiter brought the cappuccino, I double checked it was made w soy milk. He flat out says no that’s not what you ordered so that’s what you get. (I’ve been vegan for 8yrs.) As I told him I can not consume the drink he proceeds to try to charge me for it! I asked for a manger to resolve the issue and it became a huge uproar for him. My husband (who is not a vegan) ordered a dish which he said had good flavor. His cappuccino wasn’t great to him. For that, my review gets 2 stars. Paris is full of little cafes and restaurants. Just go somewhere else with...
