This accomodation is a short walk from Place Kleber and the Cathedral which makes it a good place to stay. The road it is on is pretty horrid and dingy with homeless people in tents opposite and entrances to multistorey carparks. However it feels safe and everything is kept clean and the building itself was very quiet and tidy . I would grade this accommodation as 3star max. The 1 bed apartment we were in was clean and more spacious than we had expected and we had a very comfortable stay. It was also well equipped. However the finishes were low quality - the plug for the sink was broken, the shower didn't move in height so was only up to our shoulders, the bath leaked so the floor was always flooded after use, the toilet flush kept popping out at us and needed reinstalling every so often, there were 2 dead lightbulbs, the fridge kept popping open so I think there was something wrong with its seal. The air con worked very well and was lovely and cool. There were stains and marks on the walls, flooring and door frames. There were thin pillows, one per person, so if you need more you will need to bring those. The beds were very comfortable and fresh and ours was very big. If you adjust your expectations accordingly this is a great base for visiting Strasbourg for a few nights. The swimming pool was also better than expected size wise although the spray/water fall and the spa facilities do not work and the shower for rinsing off after the pool doesn't work properly either and pours at the wall rather than from overhead. We booked a session at reception for the kids, but when we went in for it we were interrupted by a different staff member who told us we should not be in the pool and it didn't open until later. I explained we had booked the time slot on the previous day and she said she would check and come back. She never did come back so I assume it was fine but that did cast a shadow over use of the swimming pool as we weren't really sure what was happening. All reception staff were friendly and courteous. It was easy to check in and out. We did reserve parking at the hotel by email in advance but were told we had not done so when we checked in so something went wrong there. It didn't matter in the end because it is limited to 1.8m height and we have a roof box on our car so we needed a bigger parking solution - this was available locally so it was all fine. We were able to off load and load up right outside the hotel which was very convenient. We didn't try breakfast as there are options within a short walking distance. This accommodation suited us for our trip and budget on this occasion and the swimming pool does give it the edge if you have kids to entertain, but I would recommend also checking out other local apart-hotels for nicer locations and decor...
Read moreWe stayed five days in a studio, here are pros and cons for this hotel. Pros: 1, space (floor area) for the studio is decent. Basic equipment in cooking area is enough for general function. 2, cleaning staff did proper work daily. 3, heating system is efficient. 4, it is close to city center and the supermarket. Cons: 1, although the room looks spacious, we continue getting hit on head by the lean roof. 2, room next to the lift is noisy, like in a train station. If the price is same as the other studio room, it would be really unfair! 3, the furniture is really old, the chair is even wobbling, bed is crumbling, small working desk and table without any drawer, lack of a safety box. 4, the quality of basin, toilet seat and shower is poor, cannot reach a 4-star criteria at all. 5, a lot of clumps in the pillows, but staff said ‘all pillows are same, we don’t have any one spare pillow to replace’. So we used our clothes to be pillows for 4 nights. 6, from the second night, we had pimples on arms and legs, nagging itch and painful sting. We immediately reported to the receptionists, who said ‘we inspected but did not find anything’. Then we got more bites on the third night, although we don’t know the culprit (I cannot determine it is by bugs as I did not find, however, the hotel should take responsibilities to do insecticide treatment, particularly, we have shown them the photos of ‘bites’), and the hotel staff did not care at all (they should first understand the bugs features and provide efficient treatment accordingly). Although I am not an entomologist, I believe the ‘bite looking pimples by different nights’ are not due to allergies or other self-immune response based on my clinical and research knowledge. So we slept with clothes and socks on for the remaining nights. The hotel should not try to fool people. 7, check-in time is not flexible, you cannot enter room one minute earlier, which has never been happened in other hotels in our experience. 8, receptionists are not helpful and friendly, neglecting all reasonable requests, never showing smiles, no greetings when checking out even during Christmas season. As a boss, I understand it is a disaster to recruit staff without self-motivation and enthusiasm. Finally, we did not take breakfast and use the swimming pool etc, will not provide comments...
Read moreWe have stayed here for two weeks this August. The place is idealy located. 8min walking to train station, 10 min to petite France and 12 to the Cathedral. Just in front of a mall, very handy to buy anything you could need. The location itself is safe, even late at night. Just some homless people at the end of the street. Sadly something very common nowadays in most of big cities. If you feel uncomfortable with this fact just avoid that part of the street, it can be easily done. The staff in this place is very proffesional and kind. The place is clean and quiet, specially the rooms that face the back part. The studio itself is not very big, but has all you need to sleep well, have a nice shower and make something easy to eat. Air conditioning worked very very well all the time, wich was the most important thing for us as we were under a long heat wave. There is a small swimming pool (up to 7-8 people but if you are lucky you can be on your own) very convenient to relax for an hour. You just need to book in advance but it is free. The cleaning service is just one for stay or for week, but if you need extra cleaning you can book it for 7 euro extra, wich it is quite fair I would say. The only let down for us were the chairs in the room (a bit old and not very comfortables) and some stains in the curtains. Nothing really important to us but that can be easily improved with a bit of investment and could make the difference. Also the swimming pool would need a bit of maintenance in the edges. We did not use parking and breakfast service so I can't say anything about them. Considering we paid an average of 90 euro/night in peak season, we consider that this place offers good value for money and we would be happy to go back. The city itself...
