I was so happy with this hotel it has so much to offer and has a great location. Upon arrival I was greeted by security who stands outside most of the time and they made sure I made it to reception and they were very attractive and friendly. Every question I had or request I had was fufilled. I was upgraded to a " Center stage room" I am not sure what that really was but I liked the room it was clean and had everything I needed. The view was the main road and the window opened like a large verticle door. The shower water pressure was great and the bed was comfortable. They have a very cool relaxing area where they have many games like air hockey and pool plus a few others. The same area has 2 floors and its decorated with all kinds of fun things teddy bears and bright colors. The business center is on the second floor. The gym is also great they have treadmills that connect to android and apple watches plus weights and a boxxing set up with great art all over the walls motivationg you to work out. All the staff were AMAZING!!! The location is in a place called Omina square which is right at the Metro station for the Red line. It is walking distance to alot and I had no issues and even felt safe waking at midnight back to the hotel. The staff are very LGBT friendly and accomidating. Just an example of them going above and beyond was I was looking for Soulvaki which by the way is used interchangeably with Gyros and Shish Kabobs that come in Chicken, Lamb and Beef. One of the staff personaly walked me over to the restaurant that had it for an affordable price and even translated for me. I even had a night booked there while I went to Mykonos and had not set up a hotel for my return and they held my big bag without question and when I returned I picked it up. They have a great little bar and offer food too I did not get a chance to use this as I was always on the go. My one and only issue was the design of the bathroom door was weird you have to stick your finger in the hole to try and pull the door closed. This is a amazing hotel though and would stay here again!! Higly reccomended. If this review helped you at all please mark as helpful and follow me for more...
Read moreMoxy Athens Review - such a nice experience My wife and I stayed at the Moxy for 14 nights. When we arrived we were given a free room upgrade. We were also given a complimentary cocktail - just what we needed after our flight. Checkin was at the bar. The real benefit of having the checkin at the bar means all the staff see you and greet you. It helps create a familiarity with the staff the moment you arrive. Such a refreshing approach to guest services. Our room had everything we needed. There was plenty of space to unpack and hang our clothes. The bed was very comfortable and came with a selection of pillows. The aircon was nice and subtle. Outside the windows are adjustable electronic vertical louvres, so you can control the amount of daylight that comes in - very handy when waking up. The bathrooms were beautifully kept and cleaned everyday. The showers had great water pressure, and the bathroom itself had great light. We did not want to leave! The position of the hotel was perfect for someone from out of town. Right on Omonoia Square, there were shops, cafes and flea markets all close by. Taxis, trains and tour busses right out the front. The breakfast buffet was delicious. It was fresh everyday and offered many traditional (ie English/American) and local Greek dishes. But without doubt the highlight of the trip was the staff. We got to know pretty much all of them. Special thanks to John and Christos, who were always out the front and happy to have a chat and offer eating and sight seeing suggestions. Manos was very helpful. He really knows his way around Athens and was able to recommend some great tourist attractions. His suggestions on the best order to see things to maximise our time was incredibly valuable. All the female staff were a great help to my wife when she needed recommendations for spa treatment. Local knowledge really comes in handy. Overall such a wonderful experience. We honestly didn’t want to leave. But next time we come to Athens we will be staying...
Read moreDisappointed in the Moxy Experience – Not What I Expected
I stayed at the Moxy Hotel in Athens (Omonia Square) and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the experience. The room design is extremely minimalistic – to a fault. There was no wardrobe, no desk, and very limited shelving or storage space. For two people, it felt cramped and impractical. In the bathroom, things weren’t much better: only one hook and a small towel bar for hand towels. With four towels between us, we had no choice but to throw them on the floor and have them replaced the next day. This completely contradicts the hotel’s claim of being eco-friendly – how can that be sustainable?
Breakfast was also disappointing. The selection was underwhelming, and the breakfast area itself is quite small and hectic. If you leave your table for just a moment to grab a coffee or some food, staff would often clear everything away – even untouched plates – and your spot might be taken by someone else by the time you return. It felt a bit exaggerated and added unnecessary stress to what should be a relaxed part of the day.
One of the few positives was the staff. They were genuinely kind, polite, and helpful throughout our stay – always with a smile. That kind of service deserves recognition.
However, our stay was further affected by two loud parties held in the hotel during our time there. We received no warning about these events, either during booking or at check-in. The music was extremely loud and went on until midnight. Oddly enough, the hotel bar closes at 11 PM, so even if you wanted to stay up and enjoy the evening yourself, you couldn’t.
Overall, I was very disappointed in the Moxy brand. This hotel simply isn’t for me, and I’ll be avoiding it in the future. It prioritizes style over substance and comfort, and unfortunately, that made for a...
