I booked this hotel many months in advance. However, a few weeks before my arrival, I was asked to cancel my reservation by the hotel. They said they would be unable to host us due to unforeseen circumstances. I personally believe someone else wanted to book for a longer stay. The hotel is fully booked during the period i had reserved. I would have preferred that they were honest with me! I received a message from the hotel asking me to cancel. This left me scrambling to find alternative lodging. I will definitely not be recommending this hotel/guesthouse!!!!
I originally rated this hotel as one star based on the hotel requesting that I cancel my reservation on August 18, one week before leaving on my trip to London and Greece. The reason given was “due to a serious issue”. Since no other information was provided, I made an incorrect assumption. However, the owner responded to my review with more information regarding the reason for requesting that I cancel. The reason provided was perfectly acceptable (Hotel already fully booked for a wedding but technical issues allowed over booking). I was not the only person affected by the “glitch”. I wish this information had been provided to me initially when I was asked to cancel. Lack of information and the lateness of the request led me to assume the worst. I apologize for my incorrect assumption but this all could have been avoided with better communication. I believe the hotel does not deserve one star based on miscommunication. I was looking forward to staying at this hotel on my current trip and will also book for future trips, if in the area and there is...
Read moreThe Leonidaion Guest House is the type of place you want to find after a long day on the road. The owner loves his job and wants to make sure you enjoy your stay in Olympia. If you have a question about where to go or how to approach the ancient site (go in the evening in summer when it is cooler and not crowded) or where to go for dinner, he is your man to ask. He greeted us as if we were long lost friends, and cheerfully grabbed our suitcase and showed us two rooms to pick from. We elected to have #5, which is a little smaller than #6, but it has a long balcony and an extra window, along with a newly remodeled bathroom. We pulled the shutters closed at night and the windows and did not hear a peep from outside until the birds began singing in the morning. Parking is right in front, and a lovely, fresh breakfast is included where you can choose to chat with other guests, or consult your phone on your lonesome and no one will bother you. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was clean. The breakfast room, which also offers alcohol later in the day, has a modern vibe with contemporary colors. Our room continued with the contemporary colors as our room was a deep gray with yellow and red splashes of color. You appreciate the dark color at night when you want a soothing atmosphere for sleeping. A short walk down the hill to the ancient site is accomplished quickly, and you are one block up from the main street with shops. Tavernas are all over, but eat at Orestis next door. The fresh fish will blow your socks off. All in all, a wonderful stay and you can't do any better for the unbelievably...
Read moreArrived at midnight after a long drive from Delphi. The owner came out to greet us and help with our luggage, he told us that he would be available for anything we needed until 3am, wonderful to know! |The room / suite was the entire top floor of the hotel. The owner told us that he had to planned for it to be his home and that showed, everything you could need was there. In addition to the bedroom and bathroom, there was a sitting area and a small area for cooking (fridge, stove top, plates, cutlery, glasses). The rest of the space was a partially shaded deck with dining table, sun beds and a hammock. The view from the deck over the countryside was beautiful and peaceful. |Breakfast was delicious with many choices - the yogurt and honey and also strawberry jam were so flavorful. |Was ideally located for an easy walk to the archeological site. |For the accommodation and breakfast provided, this was excellent value. Only stayed one night but would have loved to have stayed longer to enjoy the space on the top floor and would absolutely go back if...
