We had two consecutive dinners at this epitome of family restaurants. Many of the dishes are cooked by the grandma of the house, with a few portions for the family and the rest for the guest. So we were literally sharing a Greek family dinner! And this is the family cuisine at its best: unpretentious but expertly prepared and highly consistent. Two dishes, the wonderfully light, almost foamy textured but exceedingly flavorful moussaka, and the perfectly fried sliced eggplant appetizer, were so delicious that we ordered them for both dinners, one evening with us as only guests and another with many full tables. And on both occasions the dishes came out excellently executed. We could happily have these two dishes, dinner after dinner had we stayed longer! The fish and meats were grilled just right. Even the humble potato chips were hand cut and crisp & hot. Even when they were busy during the second dinner, the services were unobtrusively efficient and unfailingly courteous. They also provided deserts and digestif on the house. Perhaps we were in the low season but the price was simply astonishing. For example, our perfect grilled whole fish, very fresh and weighing nearly a kilo, was only 12 euro. We could not be happier that we had such great food and warm services in the winter in a small tourist town!

MUST VISIT!!! First of all, this place had amazing food. The gyros were the best I’ve had in Greece. They also came with some homemade potato chips/fries that are made with potatoes from their family farm and are absolutely delicious. The complimentary garlic bread they serve before your meal is delicious as well, and they also gave us complimentary melon after the meal which was super fresh and good. But more importantly, the service was incredible. It’s a family-owned restaurant and the owner and his son are so kind and sociable. They were so polite, welcoming, and friendly. We told them that we had a long trip ahead of us to the airport and they were so kind to even give us completely cold waters at the end to take with us on the trip! The little seating area outside was also so beautiful and felt so peaceful. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. Listen to the countless amazing reviews and ignore any bad ones. This is truly the best food and service I’ve had in Greece. Definitely visit if you can!

We walked past this authentic taverna and it didn’t seem like anything special. We didn’t see any other customers but it was early in the day so we still opted for a table on the sidewalk. What a pleasant surprise!! We were served by a delightful young man. Very attentive and very professional. I wish we had caught his name. We enjoyed chatting with one of the other servers about Greece while waiting for our meal. We ordered the saganaki cheese to go with the complimentary bread and a pork souvlaki to share. Loved the thinly sliced fried potatoes. So much better than french fries. The house white wine was neither too dry nor too sweet - very refreshing. And the complimentary yogurt and honey was to die for. By the time we finished and it was closer to a real mealtime the tables were filling up. Excellent meal, personal, attentive service, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We had a great experience at Symposio Tavern! The environment is really warm and welcoming, you really feel at home instantly. The team were also so friendly and helpful, and treated us so kindly throughout our visit. The food was absolutely outstanding, one of the best meals we've had during our time in Greece. We had saganaki and spinach pies to start (both absolutely delicious, the pies a stand out as the filling was so fresh and flavourful), and for mains we had pork souvlaki (the pork cooked to perfection), and the absolute star of the show, a plate of perfectly grilled lamb chops! A real showcase in how to make simple, traditional, family style dishes in a truly delicious way. And also its such phenomenal value for money! Definitely worth paying a visit during a stay in Olympia.

The place may need a bit of renovations, when you poke your head through the doors you may think "maybe I should go somewhere else". But trust me, going somewhere else would be a major mistake. The food is fabulous. Olive oil probably best I ever had (according to the owner, made locally by his cousin) . Portions are big and very affordable. At the end were served some yogourt with honey on the house. Yummy. We visited the Tavern during low season (October), and during North American early dinner hours (5 pm), so it was almost empty (Only 2 tables were taken). The bill for four appetizers, a grilled fish and beef souvlaki, large beer and a sparkling water was less than 50 euros.

We stopped by during our visit to Olympia. We were greeted by friendly staff. When I showed the server my soy-allergy card the family that owned it went out of their way to ensure that I enjoyed my meal and considered my allergy when suggesting. Youre safe if you have food allergies here. They started our meal with bread with olive oil and oregano that was delicious. We chose to sit outside and they offered to move us if it began to rain. We ordered grilled fish, lamb chops, stuffed tomatoes, and coffee. All were delicious and they brought us kiwi covered with honey and cinnamon for desert as complimentary to our meal. Wonderful service and food. A must try!
