We had two consecutive dinners at this epitome of family restaurants. Many of the dishes are cooked by the grandma of the house, with a few portions for the family and the rest for the guest. So we were literally sharing a Greek family dinner!
And this is the family cuisine at its best: unpretentious but expertly prepared and highly consistent. Two dishes, the wonderfully light, almost foamy textured but exceedingly flavorful moussaka, and the perfectly fried sliced eggplant appetizer, were so delicious that we ordered them for both dinners, one evening with us as only guests and another with many full tables. And on both occasions the dishes came out excellently executed. We could happily have these two dishes, dinner after dinner had we stayed longer!
The fish and meats were grilled just right. Even the humble potato chips were hand cut and crisp & hot.
Even when they were busy during the second dinner, the services were unobtrusively efficient and unfailingly courteous. They also provided deserts and digestif on the house.
Perhaps we were in the low season but the price was simply astonishing. For example, our perfect grilled whole fish, very fresh and weighing nearly a kilo, was only 12 euro.
We could not be happier that we had such great food and warm services in the winter in a small...
Read moreMUST VISIT!!! First of all, this place had amazing food. The gyros were the best I’ve had in Greece. They also came with some homemade potato chips/fries that are made with potatoes from their family farm and are absolutely delicious. The complimentary garlic bread they serve before your meal is delicious as well, and they also gave us complimentary melon after the meal which was super fresh and good. But more importantly, the service was incredible. It’s a family-owned restaurant and the owner and his son are so kind and sociable. They were so polite, welcoming, and friendly. We told them that we had a long trip ahead of us to the airport and they were so kind to even give us completely cold waters at the end to take with us on the trip! The little seating area outside was also so beautiful and felt so peaceful. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. Listen to the countless amazing reviews and ignore any bad ones. This is truly the best food and service I’ve had in Greece. Definitely...
Read moreIncredible dining experience that we won’t ever forget!! We visited in the quiet period of winter for an early lunch in between visiting the archaeological site and the museums, and we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. We experienced a beautiful meal and radical hospitality. The owner was warm and friendly, attentive and generous. My partner is celiac and he produced an entire loaf of gluten free bread, insisting that we take the rest with us when we left; we asked for two glasses of house wine and he insisted on giving us a small carafe as it was more wine for less money! Everything was delicious (especially the home made fresh potato chips which were cut so fine that I initially thought it was out of a bag of crisps) and generous - and then he offered us a free dessert as well. Wow. Truly a feeling of having walked into someone’s home and then being looked after like family. If you eat at one restaurant in Olympia,...
