I am saddened by the lack of people at this wonderful restaurant at this November lunch time. How can this be? Sure, it’s just off the main road of Olympia where the other restaurants are, but that is no excuse to miss out on some of the best food I have had in Greece. I do not post reviews often. I am going out my way to write this because this restaurants deserves more customers, much more than just little old me. Shoutout to Sotos, the wonderful waiter who served me. He is helpful with questions, customized meals to ensure that I do not get too much (he offered to give me half of the Orestis salad instead of the full one, which is the perfect amount I needed), and—did I mention?—the food is absolutely delicious! Beef braised with lemon juice that falls apart like butter against a dull knife, salsa eggplant salads rich in flavors, crunchy breads with sharp and fresh olive pastes, moussaka filled with meats and eggplants and what I think cheese—you cannot go wrong at this restaurant.

Read moreTaverna Oristas exceeded all my expectations. From the moment you arrive, the warm and authentic atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The décor beautifully blends tradition and charm, creating the perfect setting for either a relaxed lunch or a special dinner.
The food is simply outstanding. Every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and bursts with authentic Greek flavors. I highly recommend the moussaka, souvlaki, grilled octopus, which was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. Portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality they offer.
Another highlight is the service—it’s attentive, friendly, and always eager to suggest the best options from the menu. You can really tell how passionate and proud they are about their food and ensuring guests have a memorable experience.
The wine selection and desserts are also excellent. Don’t leave without trying the baklava, galaktoboureko, Greek yogurt with honey and nuts, the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal.
Taverna Oristas is truly a gem. I can’t wait to return and try...
Read moreTaverna Orestis is a cozy and welcoming spot just a short walk from the main archaeological site in Olympia. The atmosphere is relaxed and feels very local, with both indoor and shaded outdoor seating. The service is warm and friendly the kind of place where the owner might show you the fresh fish of the day himself. I tried the grilled octopus, shrimps and mousaqa. These were outstanding, both rich and comforting dishes done in true Greek taverna style. The food is clearly homemade and served with pride. It's a great place to unwind after exploring ancient Olympia. Guests are treated to a complimentary dessert at the end, like sweet something as from the kindergarten :). If you’re looking for delicious local food in a laid-back setting, Taverna Orestis is definitely...
