Aegean Restaurant Cafe — Restaurant in Municipality of Ancient Olympia

Brought 12 people there while visiting Olympia on a family vacation. Superb service and great food. Not sure where the "expensive" comment came from on the other review, but our meal was not expensive compared to other restaurants in that area. Pleasant outdoor dining area, friendly and attentive manager and staff. I know that all Greek restaurants are proud of their mousaka (usually rightfully so since it is almost national pride in Greece dining), but after a week of trying numerous restaurants around SE Greece, the mousaka we had at Aegean the second day there was still at the top. Will go there again if we ever get the chance to visit Olympia...which, BTW, is a fantastic historical event. Hire a tour guide for $100 ...you will get a superb tour and a history lesson instead of trying to glean all from the limited English literature there or reading what is in...

Aegean was a delightful surprise. Since the restaurant was in the middle of Delphi's modest tourist section, I expected to get the usual tourist fare of overpriced generic food. Instead, we received genuinely delicious, authentic Greek dishes at a very reasonable price. The friendly server suggested a real Greek beer that was tasty and comparably priced to Mythos - apparently Mythos was purchased by a non-Greek company. When we asked the server what food he would suggest, he asked us a few questions regarding our preferences (i.e. fish, pork, etc.) and made a suggestion for an off the menu item with a promise that if we didn't like it, we wouldn't be asked to pay for it. Aegean can easily look like "all the other restaurants," but this one is a find--some of the very best food we found in Greece. Food is fresh, locally sourced, the owner/manager's sister is the chef, the family takes pride in offering the very finest, prepared perfectly.
