I really do not get the reviews. This has been hands-down, by far, the worst experience in Crete. Let's start with the food as this can compensate anything if it's delicious but sadly not the case. We had: Steamed mussels - ok; cannot really screw up this dish Sfakiani pita - completely burnt and extremely little cheese, just a drop in the middle of it. Skioufichta traditional pasta - they came absolutely soaked in water; almost a soup; when we pointed it out at the end, the waiter tried to tell us that this is how the pasta is served...way to go adding insult to injury Lamb ofto - decent but the chef got too excited with the salt; this is usually done to mask old meat but I guess I will find out in a day or two if that was the case. The location is poor. The street where the tables are is not flat so you will be sitting at an angle and everything on your table will as well. The way you order is by filling in the boxes of the foods you want on a printed menu sheet for your table, very weird. There are many more aspects that seemed off about this location but don't want to write a novel just trust me...avoid it...
Read moreThe best meal we've had in Greece between Athens, Santorini, and Crete. A fine 3 course meal with free extras like bread, water, dessert, and an after meal drink (not usual for the other locations in Greece we visited). We could not believe the bill was so cheap. We plan to eat here once again before we leave to try other dishes they offer . We had the liver, mussels, and boiled goat for our courses, as well as the house pie and complimentary dessert and after meal liquor as well. The waiter had a shot with us at the end as well to make sure we properly sampled the complimentary drink. What a great experience. Definitely recommend to the fellow traveler in the area. Can't believe we're the...
Read moreLoved this place. A very traditional taverna with pretty stone walls. Their menu is great, simple dishes and lots of variety. We went for lots of starters. Eggplant rolls were our number one, fried zucchini was a very close second. Both dishes to die for. Traditional sausages and meatballs were also very tasty. Very good house white wine. The food was ready very fast. The restaurant started to fill up at about 9 pm, large local groups and families came in for dinner, before that it was very calm. Amazing...
