We had a family trip to Oia as the last leg of our Santorini holiday. This property is available for booking via a number of sites such as booking.com and hotels.com. I think with Google, there are handful of reviews from a year or so ago that may not be accurate anymore.
We stayed here as recently as a few days ago. The lady who often interacted with us was Olga and we feel like she's running the show by herself. Maybe she had some help or maybe it's off-season. However, she was doing receptionist, cleaning, and breakfast duties. It takes a lot of hard work to not just do those tasks but also find a way to turn the property around from what it probably once was given the bad reviews from a year or two ago.
As for our room, it was really very warm and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and the A/C worked. There's even a jet tub overlooking the coastline. The balcony view of the sunrise is also pretty amazing too. The breakfast consisted of breads, cheese, cold cuts, Greek yogurt, honey, coffee, and juice. It seems like the going rate for hotel breakfast menu in the area. While the interior was amazing, the exterior definitely doesn't match the inside. The outside is a bit run down, incognito, and needs a lot of work. However, I think if given enough time, customers, and revenue, this place would probably spring back up and live up...
Read moreStayed at this hotel in Santorini. It was not at all what we expected as our travel agent had booked us a room with a view. We were told on arrival that we requested a garden suite which was not the case at all. We got a very small room at the back of the hotel by the small round pool which wasn’t clean, by the parking lot, & no view. It’s a very old, run down building, with a roof top patio that is not very clean or furnished to be set up for views, meals or drinks. You cannot see any sunset from this hotel! There is no warm / hot breakfast offered, just some buns /rolls / croissant / apple / hard uneatable kiwi, dry cereal / sometimes yogurt, to be eaten outside the room. The location is good for shopping & restaurants etc. but be warned that you will be in the midst of a multitude of travelers coming by bus and cruise ship daily to shop and walk down to see the sunset. It is extremely busy and hard to navigate the narrow streets. The receptionist was nice but had only been on the job in Santorini for 10 days. The shower did not have proper seals on the glass door so if you weren’t careful you’d have water leaking out all over the floor of the bathroom. Not worth the...
Read moreBooked way in advance, arrived and was told that our room had a broken door and the repair part was coming from Germany! Lydia at the reception didn't really care placed us in 2 different hotels said a taxi was coming in five minutes which turned into 1hour and did not seemed one. It concerned when the taxi came and we were taken to our hotel I almost died first it was not in Oia she assured me we were being upgraded for our inconvenience and it was a slap in the face as we were taken to a dump not in Oia (she assured me we had Caldera view!!!! We did not! We had no view the room was not even finished! I called la Maltese back and spoke to another woman who said for the price we paid we were being upgraded!!! Yes to a dump!!! They placed us in another hotel which is not comparable to what we booked and is not in the location we were expecting to stay! To say the least customer service is not their forte and I assume they sold our room for a higher price and got rid of us without a problem! La Maltese lost good customers and there were a lot of people waiting for my reviews on the property! Thumbs downs for La Maltese and the way they've ruined our...
