Hotel Francisco´s La Merced — Hotel in Sacatepéquez

Absolute scam! Zero stars! I booked the hotel through booking.com for the last Saturday. Because it was the festival of the flowers in Antigua and everything was fully booked it was pretty hard to find something. They offered a room with a shared bathroom for €99, which was already horrendous. Just after the booking they attempted to draw the full amount of money from my credit card twice! So I blocked the credit card and went personally there before the time of my check in. It was hard to find the hotel, no signs whatsoever at or around the address of it, stated in google maps and booking.com. Then I realized although on booking.com it was advertised as Hotel Francisco La Merced, at the address this hotel doesn’t exist, so I starting to ask around on the street until two buildings after the adress on booking.com and on google maps someone opened me the door and said after I asked, they are the hotel. Nothing there looked like a hotel or the pictures on booking or here on google maps, still they somehow had my reservation and wanted me to pay straight the money for the night. I insisted on seeing the room, which was small, humid snd zero comfy and nothing similar to the pictures on booking.com. Moreover it was stated clearly in booking.com by the hotel that the room includes a bathroom and at the end it was a shared bathroom and toilet. But I didn’t had any other option, so I said, I’m going to draw money from the ATM and to return after the check in starts to pay the room and check in. Because of the festival of the flowers and the city full with millions of tourist for it, to go from one place to another took very long. I send a message to the hotel that I’ll come 2,5h later. When I was ready I tried to order an Uber from my previous hotel to there, ended up with waiting more than 20min for Uber and still not getting one for my ride. So I called the hotel to tell tg about me trog to get to them and being on the way, but they told me (everything in Spanish, - good that I knew some basic Spanish - and zero effort from the staff to explain to me anything also in English) that my reservation was cancelled and they don’t have any availability.

So all in all a scam - first trying to draw my money double, than other address, no signs, just hilariius prices for what they offered me (€99 for a small room with shared toilet and bathroom, probably taking advantage of the high amount and fooling people!) and than the cancellation, so I was almost left on the street by them.

The worst experience with a hotel in whole...

Great hotel in a central location in Antigua. We stayed here for a few days before and after hiking Acatenango. One of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at. Very quiet and very comfortable. Staff were friendly. Bathrooms are not connected to the rooms but are only a few steps away. Incredible value for money....

Good hotel at a very very good price.

Breakfast not included and parking with a SUV is impossible and it costs.

Very friendly staff, we left our staff in their personal rooms for no charge which was so kind. Good toilets with soap and shampoo included. Super calm hotel at a better price...
