Where to begin? What is a true Renaissance Man? Oscar, the proprietor of Picasso Cafe in Antigua Guatemala is certainly representative of that!
We were looking for another restaurant that had apparently moved and met a couple who were friends with Oscar. I had the restaurant in my GPS when I mention that is where we were going they were excited to share their relationship with Oscar.
The restaurant, seating a maximum of 10 people as a portrayal of everything nuanced.
For a late lunch I enjoyed lomito en salsa de championes! WOW, no wonder Oscar has all 5* reviews.
It's not only the dedication to his culinary skills, but his attention to guest service that sets he and his restaurant apart.
My SO and I were so smitten with the man and his food we can back the same day for an additional meal. Yum 😋
Second round was pasta with lomito (fine beef). His coconut lemonade was out of this world.
For desert Mango ice cream! Delightful 😀
To place some icing on the cake so to speak, Oscar happens to be a Jade carver and a Shaman.
Music plays a pivotal roll in life, and so it is when enjoying good food and company. The soundtrack during our meals was stellar. Another compliment to Oscar's attention to the small but important details!
The vibe that this man carries with him is simply amazing, and so is his food!

Read moreCozy, wonderful little spot where “cooking is art”! This restaurant is a one-man-show: he owns, cooks and serves in this little treasure very close to the busiest areas of the city. There were two tables for four people that made it a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Antigua.
We started with bruschetta and a cup of wine. The bruschetta, was good and even better with a bit of picante for local flavor, but the main entrees were absolutely delicious. We had a chicken and broccoli and the carbonara. After dinner, we were brought fresh strawberry sorbet (included with our meals) and it was so fresh and perfectly sweet. The perfect ending to an exceptional meal.

Read moreMy friends went to this place in March, and this time in December they returned with a group of us to eat here. We were taking chicken busses from Guatemala City to Panajachel, we weren’t even staying in Antigua, but we made a special stop to eat here! It’s an intimate restaurant with only 3 tables, we sat next to someone who had returned to the restaurant 5 times and made a new friend while conversing. The drinks are the best aqua frescas I’ve had in Guatemala, the food is some of the best I’ve had in the world. The plates were actually licked clean haha. A great admiration and deep appreciation for what Oscar has done with the place, phenomenal culinary skills and a precious soul to be able to foster such a...
