Having been there for a week with a friend and having enjoyed nit so much I did not hesitate to return this time for almost two months and again I received excellent service and complete satisfaction.||This time I was in cabin number one situated right on the corner with the beautiful sandy beach just across the main street with an excellent view of the beach and ocean which can be seen while sitting on the front porch facing the ocean. There is a table and chairs and a comfortable big hammock on the veranda. ||The cabin is quite large with a pointed roof and the walls are laminated perpendicular tongue and groove pine boards which give you a warm effect. You have air conditioning, cable T.V. with a lot of English channels and even C.B.C. news and other Canadian programs. You have internet bathroom with hot water for the shower. There are two large beds and a kitchen with fridge and stove.||Just above the main office you have the Coconut Tree Restaurant run by the owner's son Vincent Bush junior for a full breakfast lunch or dinner. On Thursday nights they have musicians to entertain you while you dine or sip a drink at the bar which has a beautiful view of the ocean. William the bartender, commonly known as "Memo" is a joy to meet and chat with. He will always greet you with a smile. You will probably see a big cat sitting on a bar stool or lying out on the floor. ||Next to the office there is a grocery store owned by the hotel owner Vincent Bush It is fully stoked and you can buy your groceries if you decide to eat at home. You would also have the pleasure of meeting beautiful and charming Abby there whom would look after your every need. ||In one of the reviews I saw that a person complained of a leaking roof. This was immediately repaired.Someone else complained of bed bugs. This situation was immediately looked after and there are no more bed bugs. You can get bed bugs even in new hotels. There was no noise due to the high solid walls between the cabins and the road.. ||Should you seek a fun filled holiday and a peaceful atmosphere West End Roatan is the place to go Guaranteed you will not be bored! There is excellent scuba diving in pristine waters and is the cheapest diving in the world. There is deep sea fishing with very good results. I went out with two Australians and in three hours we caught a 20 lb barracuda a 12 lb barracuda two mahi mahi {Which are delicious eating by the way} and some tuna;15 in all. The inhabitants whom most speak English are courteous and friendly. You can walk down the main street wearing a bathing suit while sucking on a beer or sit under a palm tree on the beach to do so ||You can check out this hotel on line under hotels in West End Roatan for the telephone number and Email The hotel manager Rolando a super guy will look after your every need for accommodations. Read moreCoconut Tree West Bay Beach Cabins looked like a good value and nice location from its website. I received prompt email correspondence from Liana when planning our trip. Melida was very nice and friendly with showing us our room, check-in/out and greeting us on the property when she saw us.||||However, in person, this property and its room are in much need of repair and are VERY run down, in need of regular maintenance, repair, replacement and renovations. Unlike other properties in West Bay, we saw a real absence of staff looking to do more than rake the sand in the morning.||||We arrived to the property which the sand is raked every morning free of debris and leaves. The front desk is a disorganized, messy space that is more often than not, devoid of staff. If you need something, you need to walk around the property and look for someone who looks like they might work there or come back a few hours later and keep checking the office. Very laid back vibe to say the least.||||Our first room was #4 and when we walked in, it was too run down and in need of repairs and replacing furniture so we asked Melida if we could switch rooms and she was very friendly and nice and offered us Single Cabin #3. ||||Single Cabin #3 has a great view of the ocean (about 50 meters away) and has a coconut tree right outside the sliding glass door/window. There is a local artist who sets up his paintings on the beach (about 25 meters) in front of our room. He is very respectful and quiet so this didn't bother us. But FYI.||||Single Cabin #3 has a shaded porch with a basic plastic table and two plastic chairs and a woven, soft comfortable hammock that fits two! Cabin #3 is at the end of the property line and there is a large, beautiful tree next door that offers the porch wonderful shade, breeze and nice air. ||||The room is VERY run down, simple bed (useful headboard with lot of shelves for storage), ac, lots of windows for natural sunlight but in need of a lot of replacing including the entire bathroom and the closet that had big. There is a large sliding glass door with screen that needs cleaning and is broken (there is towel shoved in the openings). The bathroom was un-useable. There is a lack of regular basic cleaning and maintenance. The whole bathroom needed to be ripped out and replaced as it was filled with months of mildew, mold, calcium deposit and general neglect. We showered in our bathing suits outside of our room using the garden hose. We used our own sheet set we brought as the sheets were so thin and ripping from over use and needed to be replaced. They were placed directly on the mattress as there was NO mattress cover that all hotels should use for basic hygiene.||||We ending up staying 3 nights as we looked for other hotels in West Bay but they were all booked up until our 4th night when we moved to...
Read moreBooked a package trip to Roatan through Orbitz. 4/5 thru 4/15. It was a moderate to low end hotel so our expectations were modest. Upon arrival we learned the reception desk is rarely staffed, and no one there upon afternoon arrival. We were able to check in with the help of a very nice taxi guy and a security guard that tracked a guy down on the beach. Ten or fifteen minutes later he shows up and we're in. But then we found out there is no maid service or fresh towels/linens, TP, cleaning, garbage pick up, or anything else you may need. We purchased towels and essentials from a store nearby. We saw someone on the property two times over a 5 day period. Most days the office is closed and locked and no one on the property. The pool, if you can call it that, is disgustingly dirty. On day one we had no water as the pump apparently broke, then day 3 sewage blew up thru the shower drain, day 5 no hot water, and finally a really large sewage spill, blowing under presure everywhere in shower ....and we were on the top floor. There was no one on the property to report this to. I contacted Orbitz to notify of situation. The said they would call the business. After much of the day, they too were unable to contact, so we left the property as it was unlivable. Later in the day Orbitz said they finally got ahold of someone, but by that time we had left to find another room somewhere. None of what we experienced was noted on the Orbitz posting. At best they don't do their due diligence vetting properties, at worst, they know of this poorly maintained and uninhabitable property and advertise it anyway to make a buck. We requested a at least a partial refund and were refused. Orbitz will not stand by the customer and would rather stand by their vendors, regardless of how deceitful they are. |Buyer beware of Coconut Tree and Orbitz and their...
