Byblos Restaurant is an absolute treasure for lovers of authentic Lebanese cuisine, and my recent dining experience there was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment I stepped through the door, I was enveloped by the warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of Lebanese hospitality. The décor is charming, blending traditional touches with a modern flair, and immediately set the tone for a memorable evening.
I had the pleasure of trying their labneh and arayess, and I can confidently say they were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The labneh was velvety smooth, with a delightful tanginess that was perfectly balanced by a drizzle of high-quality olive oil and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. Each bite was a creamy, refreshing explosion of flavor that paired beautifully with the warm, freshly baked pita bread served alongside. It was clear that every element was prepared with the utmost care and a deep respect for tradition.
The arayess, on the other hand, was an absolute revelation. The pita bread was toasted to perfection—crispy on the outside yet soft and flavorful on the inside, filled with a deliciously seasoned meat mixture that was juicy and packed with authentic Lebanese spices. Every bite was an incredible blend of textures and tastes, showcasing the skill and dedication of the kitchen team.
I must extend my heartfelt thanks to Chef Mahmoud and Nadeem, whose passion and commitment to excellence are evident in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. They are true culinary artists who know how to bring out the best in every ingredient. Their warm, genuine hospitality made us feel like honored guests in their home. Nadeem's attentiveness and friendly demeanor ensured that our dining experience was flawless from start to finish. The staff, too, were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu, providing excellent recommendations and making us feel welcome and valued.
Beyond the exquisite food and impeccable service, what makes Byblos truly stand out is its ability to transport you straight to the heart of Lebanon with every bite. The authenticity of the flavors, the dedication to traditional cooking methods, and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients make it a standout choice for anyone looking to experience the best of Lebanese cuisine.
If you’re in search of a dining experience that combines authentic flavors, a cozy ambiance, and exceptional service, Byblos is the place to be. I left feeling not only satisfied but genuinely happy, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their extensive menu. Highly, highly...
Read moreMy recent visit to this Lebanese restaurant on New Year's Eve was nothing short of a scam. Initially drawn in by the promising reviews on Google Maps, my friends and I were eager to celebrate the occasion with a nice meal. Little did we know that we were in for a nightmarish dining experience.
Upon arriving, everything seemed perfectly normal. We were even served a welcome drink, which we appreciated. However, our optimism was short-lived as things took a bizarre turn. Out of nowhere, the staff brought over a substantial plate of food, which we hadn't ordered. Bewildered, we looked around the restaurant, only to realize that everyone was indulging in different dishes. It slowly dawned on us that we had been placed on a set menu without our consent.
To make matters worse, they brought us soup and informed us that the main course was on its way. We couldn't help but feel trapped in a dining experience that we never signed up for. While the food itself was decent, it didn't excuse the underhanded tactics employed by the restaurant.
The real shock came when it was time to settle the bill. We were presented with an astonishing charge of 150 euros per person! To put this in perspective, had we gone à la carte, we would have paid a maximum of 30-40 euros each. It was a blatant and shameless overcharge for food we never ordered or agreed to.
We left the restaurant in disbelief, contemplating how a seemingly reputable establishment could engage in such unethical practices. For the exorbitant sum we paid, we could have dined at one of the finest restaurants in Norway, but instead, we found ourselves in a mediocre Lebanese restaurant in Budapest.
This experience was nothing short of a scam. Had they simply informed us of the set menu and its price, we might have accepted it. However, the act of delivering unrequested food and then drastically overcharging for it is a clear violation of trust and a disservice to their customers. Beware of this restaurant's deceptive practices and consider your dining...
Read moreI couldn't rate this highly enough.
The menu - things appear smaller than they arrive. So we completely over ordered, and totally over ate. Phenomenal food from start to finish.
We were seated upstairs in a lively atmosphere with plenty of other diners, and a guitar player (an authentic Lebanese guitar) was providing the background music. Threw me for a loop when he started to play modern music and one of the tables were joining in clapping, all in good spirit though!
The food, now. Budapest is full of hummus, middle Eastern influences, but Lebanese is one of my absolute favourites. I was absolutely dying at the quality of the food. Moutabal - delicious, creamy, sweet with molasses and pomegranate. Best I've ever had. Houmous Beiruti - creamy, full of flavour and great olive oil Chips - yes, we thought we needed them, we were incorrect - but seasoned so perfectly and crispy - exactly the right thing to balance all the richness out! Fattoush salad - raspberry dressing to die for, sour, mouthwatering, crispy pitta bits, so flavourful! Huge portion! Falafel - fresh and moist, crispy on the outside, even the side of pickles, tahini and onions was just the perfect complement. Shish kebab - yeah clearly we're mad ordering a main as well, but my partner said this was very good. Done on the charcoal grill downstairs, smelled amazing and very authentic. Baklawa - large piece with ice cream in the middle, stuffed with pistachio and honey, perfect end to the meal. All in all, it was on the pricey side but the portions are a LOT bigger than they look, so maybe just chill on the 'ordering 65...
