Lovely little hotel and everything about it was great. There is one negative for us that let it down but I'll get to that later. The positives, you won't be let down by the staff all of which were amazing. We have to single out one member of staff that helped us out but unfortunately we didn't get his name. He was on reception first thing on 16th October when we checked out. I had called a taxi for the airport via the Uber app as we'd never been let down. The timing was 7mins to pick up, then it went to 15mins and then 25. We watched the driver on the app come up the castle and then the driver cancelled. The app located another driver who was 15mins away, 10mins later he cancelled. We went back to the hotel and the gentleman on reception really helped us out, he also had problems getting a taxi for us but he was assured it was on the way. Oh and by the way, we had a flight to catch but the taxi turned up as promised By the hotel. By now we were a bit stressed as this process started at 0750 and it was now 0910, gates closed for the plane at 1020. Lol, it would have been easier to get the bus from town. Anyway, we made it in time to have 5 mins in duty free and walk on the plane. Pre book your taxi if not taking the express bus is advisable. Haha. So big thanks to reception. ||We had their room with no windows which was fine, the decor is great and the Aircon is quiet but this is where the hotel is let down a little. The room is not attended/cleaned daily which is fine but tell us the customer so we know before booking. There was no issue if we mentioned it to reception then the room was serviced but if we hadn't twice it wouldn't have been done at all. We stayed for 5 nights. Perhaps the room should be attended daily to make sure the coffee/tea/mini bar if used and the water is replaced but most importantly the toilet paper as I had to go to the restaurant to ask for some Infront of guests eating which I'm sure wasn't nice for them to hear plus embarrassing for me. ||The location is lovely within the castle district with easy regular busses to the city centre (the no16 bus is your friend). If you want to be in the middle of town there are closer hotels but the transport system is cheap and easy and can all be done from Budapest go app. ||So to summarise, lovely staff, lovely hotel, great decor let down by the lack of...

On the day of my arrival, in the late afternoon, I received a phone call from the hotell enquiring about my check-in time. (I think I had indicated an earlier check-in when I made the reservation) As the reception is not staffed after 19.00, and I was not able to arrived before this, they said I would receive an sms with my key retrieval instructions, and they also explained them over the phone. Sure enough, just after this I got the sms, including information that I had been upgraded to the suite (sweeet, I thought (pun intended)) So far, so good.
And the good just kept coming 😊 I found the hotel easily, and when I struggled with the lock-box (for my key), the staff at the bistro connected to the hotel, were more than happy to help. The interior was charming and I found my way to the second floor (or 1st floor for those who use Ground floor 🤷). My suite was absolutely delightful! The layout of the room and the art on the wall gave it a charm that you don't get in the bigger (chain) hotels.
The bathroom was an open solution, but seperated from the sleeping areal with a divider wall. (so if you're not staying by yourself, I recommend you share this suite with someone you're familiar and comfortable with 😉 There is a curtain for the bath area, but it's see-through, so it's not for the shy) Oh, and the toilet is hidden behind what seems to be cupboard doors, quite cute actually, but again, you should be sharing the room with someone you're comfortable with 🤷 The bed was - for me - good, because I prefer a hard mattress, but I guess this could be a goldilocks scenario. If you prefer to sink into a soft mattress, you might have a rough night ahead..
So far, still good! So, the bad? The only thing that comes to mind is that the windows are not soundproofed. So you'll hear the chatter from the bistro downstairs, until they close quite early in the evening. You'll also hear passing buses and other traffic, but in general this is a really quiet area. So not so bad, after all 😊
Finally, the lovely. How else to describe the people running the hotel and the bistro 😊 Thank you so much for a lovely stay, I enjoyed it immensely and will definitely stay there if I'm going back...
