Embarrassing to say the least. We booked online for 21:00 and arrived even earlier. The waiters provide us with a menu without images, so it was not immediate for us to understand the dishes and we took two more minutes to choose. Too bad that suddenly one of the waiters arrives with a rude look and annoyed, telling us that we had to book immediately because the kitchen closed, and also we could only order the main dishes and nothing else (so no goulash or appetizers). Leaving aside the TOTAL RUDENESS of the waiter, to whom I asked sparkling water and instead I was served natural water, I would like to find a logical sense to the following points:
We stayed for drinks here on the Eve of Hungarian National Day. It was a very hot day, and we had just come to the park to listen to a jazz performance but couldn't find any shade in the park. We were really exhausted by the heat and about to leave when we noticed there is a really good shade with misty coolers blowing lovely cool air on the terrace of the Dunacorso, so we decided to stay for drinks and cool off. It was really nice sitting and relaxing there on the terrace and listening to jazz music. We could see and hear the performer really well from there. My husband ordered a beer, I asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail (as there weren't any on the menu). The nice waiter said they could do a non-alcoholic pina colada or mojito, so I ordered the mojito which was a really tasty one. We didn't order any food, but heard from a nearby table a guy giving the waiter big compliments for the food he just had. Have to come here again some day and try their food. But for us it was all about the refreshment they offered us on that day, plus an amazing view of the Danube.
An update. Two weeks later we stopped there for lunch with our friends. We ordered the French tartar, gulyás soup and shrimp pasta. The tartar was excellent, fiver stars. The gulyás was good but the shrimp pasta was...
Read moreThis place has one of Budapest best views and food. Food is tasty and delicious, favourite ones are the goulash soup, duck liver and cotage cheese balls, these 3 are amazing really delicious. It is not too spicy/sweet or any strong flavor, just a smooth delicate taste. They have a good variety of dishes, including vegetarian option(goat cheese salad is really good) and drinks for an average price. Good wines. Live music is proper for the environment, not too loud, just quiet pleasant orchestra(piano, violoncello,..). At end of restaurant you can find a separated and more private room, which is perfect for groups meeting. And this area has the best view from inside, as it is closer to the Danube side windows. Stuff is fast and attentious. Restaurant furniture is more classic, for more casual/formal meals it is a good option. Otherwise it has outside space, even during winter, on warmer temperatures it is a great spot with Danube and castle district view. Restaurant can be reached by tram number 2, just in front of it. And nearby there can find nightlife. During summer it is really crowded, winter is favourite season to visit the place for those who prefer a quiet place for meals. The price is average for a meal(entree, soup, main dish, desert, wine and water, around...
