Somebody broke in to our room and stole a lot of items (drone, camera, speaker) from our room.. And the staff didn't even care about it. They were not interested in solving the situation or maybe have a look at the damage to the door of our room, they didn't even show up to talk to us. They even told us, that they know that the main doors are open and everyone can enter the guesthouse. So they know that someone can easily enter the house, but they are ignoring the fact. Don't think that this is a good behavior for hosts. So I can just say this guesthouse is not safe and people should avoid this guesthouse, as the owners don't care about the safety of their guests and don't provide a good service or...
Read moreThis guesthouse is conveniently located in the city of Akureyri. Self check-in/check-out was easy enough. There is nearby parking, restaurants, giftshop and convenience store.
However, the bathroom was cramped and the showerhead was dirty. I wasn't able to get the heater going inside the room either so it was pretty cold during the night and the next morning. They should do a better job maintaining the grounds. The area near the back entrance had litter all over the floor, also when I looked on the patio on the second floor there was an ashtray with over a hundred cigarette butts inside. It was a walk up, no elevator, so we were lucky to only have smaller bags to not have to worry about bringing large bags up stairs. The room was very nice with the additional sitting area and kitchen and table and view of the street and the mountains. It being June and summer, the bar across the street only really got busy after midnight, and continued until 3 AM when people came out into the streets loud and drinking.
