Worst spa experience of my life…
I was excited to book myself and my mum for an afternoon of pampering at the spa. I attended the spa before in 2018 and I loved the beautiful location. I thought it was a little hidden gem of Ubud. I was wrong.
I can only assume that the spa staff are actually just hotel staff who have to moonlight as spa staff when an idiot like me walks through the door.
I booked a 1 hour facial and booked my mum for a 1 hour pedicure. The prices are way higher than normal prices for Ubud but we thought it must be because of the great service.
Here are the highlights:- the ‘therapist’ performing the facial had apparently never performed a massage or facial in her life. She just weakly rubbed product onto my face and scraped it off with half-dry cloths The ‘natural products’ on my face were yoghurt, salt and Vaseline. I had to ask her to stop so I could go and wash the disgusting yoghurt off my face because I’m dairy allergic. She rubbed salt into the same spot of my cheeks for so long I now look and feel like a garden gnome (except I can, and do, feel pain) When she finished the facial I had little bits of clay mask all over my skin and it was red raw and totally dry. No oil or moisturiser to finish the job. I had to literally ask for a wet cloth to remove the last bits of mask The massage was so weak I honestly lay there wondering how rude it would be to stand up and leave At the end of the session another women barked at me to ‘PAY NOW’ and then the whole staff ignored me whilst I went to find my mum My mum was sitting holding back tears because she was in so much pain from her pedicure, which consisted of her sitting in a hard chair for an hour whilst resting her feet on a hard wooden block, and having them scrubbed until they bled. Oh, they had a choice of 5 awful childish nail colours and not a single salon chair in the whole place. Remember, this pedicure is twice the price of most places in Ubud. When we left there were no goodbyes or smiles

Read moreWe stayed four nights in this amazing place in the centre of Ubud. We chose the Balinese suite which was as advertised and just perfect. The gardens in this place are breath taking. The staff are so obliging, respectful and friendly. Our room was serviced ever day and our every need accommodated. Breakfast was nice with a choice of fresh fruits and juices along with traditional dishes and European dishes. The location is perfect only 100 metres down a lane way off monkey forest road which is where everything is happening. You will not believe how peaceful this place is yet only metres away from the hustle and bustle. You are absolutely spoilt for eating out choices. Literally hundred of amazing restaurants cafes and warungs. For the shopper everything is just outside in the streets. There are markets, high end shops and village type shops where bartering is common place. Narasoma is our new go to place when we come to Bali in spring each year. Highly recommend to other travellers and happy to take...
Read moreReview of Narasoma Bali Homestay:||During my recent stay at Narasoma Bali Homestay, we encountered several areas that require improvement, particularly in the conduct of the staff. Regrettably, there were instances where the staff's especially the floor manager’s behavior fell short of expected standards, displaying signs of disrespect and discourtesy towards guests.||The staff should maintain a pleasant hygiene. A consistent attention to ensuring a pleasant aroma in the vicinity of the staff is still necessary.||Furthermore, a pressing issue during our stay was the presence of a persistently leaking lavatory, which was not promptly addressed despite repeated notifications.||In summary, while there are aspects of Narasoma Bali Homestay that show promise, such as efforts towards cleanliness, addressing the discourteous behavior of the staff and promptly resolving maintenance issues like the leaking lavatory is crucial for providing a satisfactory...
