Me and my boyfriend spent 5 nights here. We arrived a lot later than supposed to due to airport delays but our airport transfer (booked through Rita - the host) was still there and waiting which was great! He helped with our bags and got us to Puri Bayu and rang Rita for us who led us to our room. The room was far nicer than I expected! Big room with a small wardrobe that I unpacked into and an outdoor ensuite (covered over for shower and toilet). Very clean too and beds were perfectly made and very inviting. The mattress was firm-ish but very comfortable! The mosquito net was also very big and unobtrusive. ||||Sleep: we slept well here, all you can hear at night is crickets/locusts, a few dogs and cockerels in the morning. I like these sounds though. No mosque sounds, no traffic sounds apart from the odd motorbike and no noisy tourists either as it is a bit set back, overlooking rice paddies! No blackout curtains but I enjoy waking up to the natural light - woke about 7 each day naturally.||||Breakfast: I enjoyed sitting out on our terrace for breakfast (which is between 8 and 10am). You are offered tea and coffee but we don't drink that so drank our water (1 bottle per person was provided for the 5 night stay). Fruit was served first which was melon, pineapple, sometimes banana and papaya sometimes. Then we were served green banana pancake (which was so sweet with cane sugar syrup on top!) or omelette depending on the day. I'm not a big breakfast eater so I can't comment so much on it but it was presented nicely and the banana in Bali is delicious! Tried to ask for toast once and some sort of fried banana soaked bread came so maybe just sick with what they give you. It is all very nice.||||Shower: great hot shower with a good pressure. I pointed our head towards the wall as otherwise it would go all over the floor and toilet paper etc. It is adjustable so just move it! It doesn't go up and down however, just side to side. Bathtub if you wanted a bath but we didn't ever have one.||||Service: we saw Rita occasionally and we knew she was around the corner at her other residence whenever we needed her but we never did! We had a cleaner who I forgot the name of who was lovely. He cleaned our room daily which was a nice surprise and we didn't run out of toilet paper our whole stay. He tried to help us with some tours and such but we had already booked and paid for us all. A man comes round to try and sell his paintings occasionally so be wary of that if you don't like that sort of thing. If you are not interested don't humour him so he can move on to someone who might buy something from him :)||||Location: great location, walking distance of the campuhan ridge trail, monkey forest, ubud palace and lots of restaurants, shops and bars. It was a bit difficult for our shuttles to pick us up for each tour so I would suggest you take a number from them and prepare for them to be late as Bisma street gets quite busy in the mornings with traffic. Agree to meet out on the main road rather than staying in the road as it's only accessible via bike or foot. ||||Bugs: my boyfriend was bitten a fair bit on some nights but I wasn't bitten at all. No obvious bugs in the rooms as long as you keep your doors closed and your net covered over. Lizards and such like to stay on the ceiling of the balcony but that is about it. No ants or any creepy crawlies!||||Wifi: my ipad worked perfectly but my boyfriends iPod had trouble connecting in some parts of the room. Was good outside on the balcony though. ||||Stay here though you won't regret it! Good value for the location and...
Read moreI found this by wandering down a laneway off Jl. Bisma and stumbling into its sister property which though stunning was out of my budget. So the staff showed me around to the guesthouse which has a partially obstructed view of the rice fields (for now! There's a LOT of construction going on as farmers sell their land for the lucrative tourism demand). ||The room is simple but had a gorgeous balcony with sofa and proved to be a delightful spot for breakfast. It has an outdoor shower/toilet which was quaint if slightly inconvenient in the rain! ||The room was 250,000 with fan only, including breakfast and a bottle of water, so it's not really cheap for what you get but it's lovely and quiet. ||My two complaints are that they don't provide soap and there was only one thin sheet on the bed so I was cold. There aren't staff staying onsite so if you need anything overnight too bad! Breakfast is served 8-10am so if you need to go early be sure to tell...
Read morefor budget travellers and even for flashpackers, this guesthouse is hard to beat in terms of location, price, interior design and service! ||It is in walking distance to many fantastic spots and everything you need in daily life is nearby. Still it is quiet and sunset views golden! (Yoga Barn is a good 30min walk, which I didn't mind at all). ||Rooms are simple yet tastefully decorated, offer cupboard, hangers, moscito netting, a private terrace - and a half open lovely bathroom, which is so hard to find these days. ||WIFI strong inside the rooms. Daily cleaning and wonderful Bfast, never gets boring.||Ms Agung Dewi, the owner also runs a private villa on Jl Bisma and the Puri Cantik Cottages next to Puri Bayu. She is a very pleasant host, who knows her business and has an eye for detail. Thank you so much for having me Dewi - I truly loved every minute of my 1 month stay and hoping to return...
